  • I love this cast, and you guys rock. I agree that most American remakes don’t turn out very good, but I recently saw the premiere of the American version of The Bridge and it looks like it will be really good. Probably a good thing that FX decided to do it.

  • liar game
Description: Kanzaki Nao is an honest college student who receives a hundred million yen one day, along with a card saying she has been chosen to take part in the “Liar Game”. The aim of the game is to trick the other players out of their hundred million dollars. At the end, the winner gets the hundred million and the loser is a hundred million yen in debt. The next day, she receives notification that her opponent is her former teacher, Fujisawa Kazuo. She goes to him, seeking help, but ends up getting tricked into handing her money over. Desperate, she approaches the police for help, but they are unable to do anything. However, she is told of a mastermind swindler, Akiyama Shinichi, who is to be released from jail the next day. Desperate, she goes to him for help.

  • great podcast i have a few japanese tv show recommendations

    1.Soumatou Kabushikigaisha
Soumatou Corporation is intriguing place where recorded images of one?s life can be viewed on DVD. A person who happen to stray into Soumatou Corporation, will be handed DVDs equivalent in number to his age by Kaminuma (Kashii Yu), the company?s mysterious guide. She will tell him to go back and watch his life to his heart?s

content. What he will see on these DVDs is his own life through the eyes of other people. He will learn startling facts that are better left unsaid. What will he think after watching everything?

    2.

  • I just wanted to thank you for your recommendation and description of the show Bron|Broen. I was able to find the first season online and I absolutely love that show. Dark and full of twists and turns. Be sure to mention any other awesome shows you happen to come across!

    Stay sassy!

  • National Treasure was the first movie my wife and I saw when we were dating…and I recreated our first date and proposed to her after the second movie…..I love that movie hahaha

  • Seconding IK should play Slender. Halloween is coming up, would be hilarious to see your guys’ reactions in the dark.

Also oh god Sunny Day Real Estate. Rain Song is my guilty jam

  • Love the show guys. I wish this had a point, but i know the XBOX 360 version of Skyrim creates an autosave right after the opening scene, but before you create your character. Its too late to be of any help to Aaron, but i just wanted to show off my mediocre knowledge base.

  • I’m so glad Aaron brought up Slender, I’ve been hoping you guys would play this game and talk about it for awhile now. Its such an atmospheric and psychological horror game. Just the idea that every time you look at slenderman he gets closer when you look away is brilliant, you want to turn around and look to see if he’s there to know whether your safe or not, but you can’t because if you do, your chance of dying increases. I’ve played it once and I haven’t had the courage (or the constitution) to play again. Now the icon on my desktop just taunts me to come back. Also, I don’t know if you guys have played Amnesia on steam, but that is also a fantastic horror game.

  • odd, on pc Skyrim, I made a quicksave right before being asked to create character so I don’t have to go through that long intro wagon ride…i just reload that save each time and start anew. hopefully that is possible on xbox360. irregardless, even that method is a bit unobvious to most, i’d imagine.

  • The big problem with The Binding of Isaac is that it runs inside Flash. It can only accept keyboard and one mouse button for input, and even beefy machines run into performance issues.

The good news is that they found a publisher willing to pump some money for a remake/remaster with an actual engine that can run on other platforms.

  • @Michele

They also recommended buying a cheap region free dvd player to see them.

But many dvd players can be made region free. First search the net for your model for instructions.

A new series of Forbrydelsen (The Killing) is on the way probably this time in HD (Our national television – tax payer funded – is moving slowly to HD – we’re very behind on that account). Yes we are a dangerous socialist country.

It’s interesting if Americans actually gets a lot of the social criticisms about the welfare state (socialism) that is rampant in both Forbrydelsen and especially The Bridge.

American geeks seem to adore UK television and UK is on a scandinavian crime noir kick which also extend to movies like Jo Nesbø’s Headhunters (http://www.empireonline.com/reviews/reviewcomplete.asp?FID=133528) and Jackpot (http://www.empireonline.com/reviews/reviewcomplete.asp?FID=137753).

  • Hey guys. Really enjoy the podcast. The Binding of Isaac is actually made by one member of Team Meat (Edmund) and another dude. Also it could be coming out on the vita….I think? Don’t meant to be one of those annoying nerds but just realized I’m being one of those annoying nerds while typing this. Anyway glad you’re enjoying The Binding of Isaac!

  • While you guys were discussing The Bridge, I could only think of Twin Peaks. Not trying to say that these shows are similar at all, just saying that I am also addicted to the theme of Twin Peaks like you’re addicted to The Bridges theme.

  • At the beginning when they were promoting Gamefly and Emily said something along the lines of “They have games for you, Aaron,” I was almost freaked out before realizing who the guest was. Cool story, huh?

  • Kumail mentioned that he missed the fact that games from the 8-bit era forced you to replay levels every time you wanted to play the game. If anyone is interested in a AAA game from the current console cycle that does an amazing job of recreating this feeling check out Demon’s Souls or Dark Souls. They are really difficult and every time you die you have to run through a bunch of the level that you had already done. You end up playing the same parts of the levels about a million times to the point of playing them with a seeming pre-cognition. It really reminded me of my Megaman days.

  • Funny episode, guys. Funny enough I just saw the Clueless Gamer this weekend (on youtube) and laughed so hard. My favorite episode was the Skyrim one. Glad they are making more of them.

Oh and I am first on my comments today. Go me!
