havent listened yet but it would appear that Harrison Ford and Metallica are teaming up for a star wars/ metal-music cross over? Of course now that i think of it, the lyrics for Enter Sandman already do that….

    Exit Night
    Into Light (saber)
    Take My Hand {obvious luke reference}
Off to never never land(o calrisians cloud city)

    Peace & Han Shoots First,

  • ohgodohgodohgod

I’ve got my burrito all prepared, and I don’t know what to do with it. Enfoil it? Defenstrate it? Invigilate it?

The only thing that can save me is a Calgary live Nerdist show.

@Zim…..UGHHHH! I know!!! If there is one thing that absolutely RUINS a TV show, its having the opportunity for the shows stars, creators, fans, and admirers to get together and discuss it openly and freely. Even worse is giving others the opportunity to watch said discussion and share in the enjoyment around it. Even worse is hosting that discussion. Its definitely ruined. F@#$ing Hardwick. Which is a shame because prior to your posting it was pretty much my favorite show of all time. Thanks for your spot-on observation.

Going forward, its probably best that you dont watch his show and avoid any similar outlets where folks gather to discuss something they like…which…if you think about it…is the internet. Yes, thats what you should do, avoid the internet entirely.

  • @Zim, Chris (a fan of Breaking Bad) will be preforming an after show where like-minded people review and dissect what just happened in the show. It is completely separate from Breaking Bad itself and therefore cannot ruin it. It you don’t like Chris, then don’t watch his new show and don’t troll the comments on a podcast that HE hosts. No one needs to hear your negative words around here. Thanks.

  • I’m so dissapointed about the surprise show ! I live in Montreal. My boyfriend and I are big fan of the Nerdist and we went to Talk of the Fest. It was awsome to see you guy. Your’e the best ! :-)

  • @Patrick
The part that makes me pity you the most is that you actually think you’re clever. Like when a five year old kid bursts into the room and shouts a swear word during a party his parents are throwing thinking everyone is going to fall down laughing and then carry him out on their shoulders, Ralphie style. Just…stop. Go to your room and play with your toys or something. Your attempt at condescending vulgarity is mildly annoying at best. You’re neither funny or smart enough to be truly offensive. Pathetic, really.

    @Eddy aka Zim
When you use the same e-mail address your gravatar gives you away even if you type in a different name, idiot. But keep scrapping that barrel, son. One of these times you’re bound to come up with something worthwhile to say. Even a stopppd clokk is right twice a dayyy, right big guy?

    Fucking nitwits.

“Hi and welcome to this weeks episode of AMC’s newest show, ‘Talking Trolls’, where we take a look at some of the webs greatest troll comments and try to understand where the poster was coming from.

This week we spend the entire hour on our favorite troll posting of the year, from @patrick, where he manages to do the impossible: acknowledge his love and hopes for more nerdist hostfull podcasts while, SIMULTANEOUSLY, completely insulting the very person who hosts those episodes and his significant other. The complexity of this posting is one for the ages.

Also, we’d like to apologize to @Zim as we’ve found out that when someone creates a show talking about something he ruins it for him…therefore our show’s existence, “Talking Trolls”, has, by definition, ruined trolling for him. Sorry @Zim, we know how much joy trolling used to bring to you.

Next week on Talking Trolls: Youtube talkbackers…bat-shit-crazy-pants or bored-cranky-drunk-folk. ”

Peace & Yochloe Ono and the Plastic Nerdist Band

  • I really hope Chris and Chloe do a special edition of Just Cos one of these days where they do a “Singled Out: Cosplay Edition” with people at a convention

  • When is the live podcast with Matt Smith going to be posted? I can’t wait to hear it!!!! The 2011 and 2012 Comic Con live podcasts were awesome and I am sure this will be great too. It will be interesting to see whether the actor who plays the next Doctor will be as gracious and accepting of the craziness that is American Whovians as Matt has been.
I love the Nerdist podcasts, especially the Hostfulls. I listen to them while traveling for work, however, I have been known to miss exits because I was laughing so hard listening to them.

  • Was wondering when the anaheim wondercon show was going up? Was a great show but had friends who could not make it and are sick of hearing me talk about it. Hostful > all.

  • Hey guys –

So if your pronunciation of “GIF” is based on the hard “g” in “graphical,” then you must say “JFEG” instead of “JPEG” as the “p” is for “photographic.”

    Because consistency and stuff….

  • All these issues (more hostful, less whoever, blah blah blah) are dumb. Your creative control of every episode is what makes us fans of the Nerdist.

However, I do have one request: Please give me the Metallica episode. My favorite band on my favorite podcast is going to blow my mind, and I cannot wait for it!

Thanks in advance for that episode, and thanks for everything the three of you do for us. The Nerdist Podcast has affected many of us (myself included), and I am eternally grateful to you guys.

  • 3ToF: Talking Trolls. Go ahead, caller!

Troll: Good evening, turd brain! Do you realize this show is ruining my podcast, goddammit?

3ToF: That’s some real rude shit you’re talking, caller, some real rude shit….

Troll: You don’t need to be a genius to figure that out, monkey dick. You’ve got everybody synced to the same bullshit story. I’m not a moron, you know, I….

(Chris, Matt & Jonah come on the line)

Troll: What are they DOING on here? Do you have any idea how DISRESPECTFUL THAT IS?

Chris: Hey, I bet our troll’s got a set of elephant balls!

Troll: *BURP* *FART* OH MY GOD! Do you realize it’s snowing dandruff in my room, goddammit?

Jonah: How come some unpopular dick like you alway has to crash the party?

  • Y’all realize that Zim was pretty much directly quoting the podcast, right? It was pretty much exactly what Chris said he THOUGHT he would see as the reaction to the Talking Bad announcement, although Zim left out the “fuck you.”

Wouldn’t you say there’s a *decent* chance that he doesn’t actually mean it?

  • @Nate That’s what I was gonna say. The way it’s worded, to me, comes off as just a reference to the podcast and not his actual opinion.

Also, can’t we all just agree that the correct pronunciation of gif just doesn’t fucking matter at all? I’m so sick and tired of the debate that I wanna punch a puppy* every time I see it come up on my Tumblr dash. There are still starving kids in Africa, right?*

    *I’m only semi-serious, don’t worry.

  • Could you not be misandrist? What you said about men is not ok and it wouldn’t be ok if you said it about women. Think about how hateful it is that you things are male traits… It’s not ok to feel that way about people based on how they were born and it’s not ok to feel that way about yourself.

  • .
@Nate…thanks for pointing out that @Zim was likely just quoting the podcast.

@Zim…my appologies if thats the case…it would appear that “in my race for power and glory I forgot one detail…to hook up the doll….AND…to listen to the podcast before mis-understanding a talkback comment.”

Peace & WOO HOO!! The Comic-con episode hit this morning!!

  • Yeah for Hostfuls! The band is back together! Hurray for comment threads where Jetpack Blues and Three Toes of Fury are making with the funny and the slaying of the stinky ole trolls! These and the free food at work are making my Friday morning!

BTW, @Zim – If that was a faux troll for comic effect and we misunderstood, maybe the next one should be a little more over-the-top so that’s clearer. Maybe include something like “OMG!!!!111!!EVELENTY!!!” or some such thing. Sarcasm and irony don’t come across as well in writing as they do verbally.

    @Rob S. –

“Who can turn a gap into a gape?
Who can turn a tap into a tape?
A little glob becomes a globe instantly
If you just add Silent E!”

Speaking of the Silent E song, I’m still hoping for the day the guy who wrote/performed that is interviewed on this podcast. Yes, this is my one millionth request to have Tom Lehrer on the show. OH! Or maybe he could be a musical guest on @midnight?!?!?! Heck, if Chris Hardwick can keep it together while speaking to Han Solo, surly he can take on an 85-year-old mathematician. For you poor souls who have no idea who I’m talking about, here’s Daniel Radcliffe singing one of his songs:

Come to think of it, isn’t it time for another Tom Lehrer tribute album/show? The British production of “Tom Foolery” was way back in the 1980s, so I say Team Nerdist should get some celebrities together to record their favorite TL tunes! And if I were a celebrity, I would promptly record one of these: or

Patty, Who is Lovin’ the Lehrer

  • Who can turn a gap into a gape? My dick (couldn’t help myself and yes my dick is a who not a what).

@Durakken Are you a troll or do you just not understand jokes?

    • @rooislangwtf While it was laughed at, what was being said was not funny when you actually think about what was being said, which is the point of comedy in the first place… to challenge the status quo and laugh at how absurd it is. What was said was supporting the status quo and agreeing that it wasn’t absurd nor was it challenging the status quo.

I’m not telling them to censor themselves, but that they should think about the implications of what they say is and how hateful it is to say things like “there are three things that men have in common” and all three of them being and all 3 are really quite malicious, on the same level as saying “you should be afraid of someone who is block cuz they’ll rob you” it’s bigoted and it’s not right to say such things especially in the tone that was taken which wasn’t “this absurd to say” but rather that “this is sooo true”

  • In defence of my city… I love Montreal, and sometimes I feel like it is misunderstood. While nothing said during the podcast was anti-Montreal, there are a couple misconceptions, which, as an anglophone, make me sad.

If you only go to restaurants, clubs, or even stores, in Downtown Montreal, you are likely to run into assholes. If you head West, or even a little East, on the island, you will find the nicest people who don’t care which language you speak because they are bilingual, trilingual, or more. (polyglots)

I don’t know if it’s so much francophones looking down on people who’s first language isn’t french, as it is the feeling that if there is anyone living in Quebec, under the age of 50, that doesn’t at least have a basic knowledge, it’s because they are wilfully ignorant.

We don’t hate everyone, we hate Toronto. Everyone in Canada hates Toronto, it’s fun. I’m sure Toronto hates someone… but no one cares, it’s Toronto.

Next time you’re headed to my city let me know, and I will give you a list of places you should go. All kinds of food, all kinds of fun. Commenter or Nerdist(er).

  • Hey,
You guys said you may come across Canada?
THAT WOULD BE AMAZING! I live in Saskatchewan and have always wanted to see you guys live! If you guys do come around please stop in Regina or Saskatoon. That would be incredible!

  • @Dia I am happy you wrote this, I am a Montrealer and french is my first language and agree with you 100%. And I don’t think it is Toronto the city we hate so much as it is Toronto the hockey team we hate :)

  • If you guys are coming to Canada, you absolutely have to come to Vancouver! Matt said so, if there was a chance to do a show in Vancouver, he’d be on ti in a second!

And when you do come to Canada, Chloe should do an episode of Just Cos by cosplaying hockey players.
