I was over with the folks at our sister sites GeekChicDaily.com and TOKYOPOP last week, and they told me that this week over there will be Star Wars 3D Week, because, well, you know, Star Wars in 3D. And as part of the festivities, they have something for you to win.

They’ve managed to get their hands on a pair of ARTFX statues from ace figure maker Kotobukiya, figures of C-3P0 and R2-D2 in all their glory, replete with articulated limbs (yes, they’re poseable!) and everything. I think these are the ones they showed off at Comic-Con and they’re pretty gotta-have-them.

And you can win them. Here’s how: Click here. Enter your name and email (which, if you’re not yet signed up for the newsletter, will set that up for you). Click Go. That’s it. They have the official rules and other information on that page as well. The GCD Facebook and Twitter pages will offer more chances to win, too. You have until February 20th at midnight to enter, and you’ll want to do so. So do it. And for all your Star Wars 3D needs this week, make sure you’re signed up for GeekChicDaily newsletters.

Aha, NOW I have your attention. Okay, here’s how:

This is a contest at our sister site GeekChicDaily.com. It’s pretty simple, really. All you have to do is make sure you’re registered to get GeekChicDaily emails, and then go to Sideshow’s contest entry page, fill it out, and that’s it. One randomly chosen winner will get the Dewback Sixth Scale Related Product (that’s how it’s listed), a limited edition item valued at $299. The contest ends at 11:59am Pacific time on February 3rd, so get on over to GCD and Sideshow and fill out that form. All the rules are over there, so get on over there and put your name in the hat.

Good luck, and may… no, I’m not gonna say it. Nope.

We have a winner in the BBC America Shop Doctor Who caption contest. You remember the photo, with the Doctor, armed with a net, and Craig, pushing a stroller, are urgently making their way through a store:

We had a LOT of entries, and a lot of good ones, which made the task of choosing the winner of the massive BBC America Shop prize pack that much more difficult. Among recurring themes were lots of jokes mentioning Black Friday, “(___)s are cool,” hunting snipe, hunting wabbits, and “I told you not to feed it after midnight.” There were several repeat/similar entries, which proves that great minds indeed often think alike. And there were several that were accurate to the episode (e.g., referring to Stormageddon/Alfie), which I liked but for the purpose of a caption contest wasn’t necessary, because we were deliberately taking the picture out of context. So, in the end, I had to go with one that just made me laugh (so NO COMPLAINTS! It’s all subjective! I liked a lot of them! LEAVE ME ALONE!), and the winning caption, submitted by Hilary Carr of Massachusetts, was:

“Pram? Check. Baby net? Check. Good. Now, Craig, have you ever tried to capture a mutant babytron from Plom before? Because it involves rather a lot of dancing.”

I could hear that in Matt Smith’s voice. And so, Hilary will be getting a whole bunch of stuff, including Blu-ray sets of Doctor Who Season 6 and a lot more, from BBC America Shop, which is also where you should go for belated “oh, no, I forgot to get a gift for (family member whose existence you failed to properly acknowledge).” Thanks to all for entering. I hope we’ll be doing that again sometime soon.

BBC America and Nerdist asked you to help us pick the “Nerdist of the Year” with video nominations, and the top three videos have been selected, and, as promised, here they are, posted both here and at BBCAmerica.com.

Meet Belinda McNeill, Tessa Williams, and Sierra Houk, making their cases for three worthy nominees (Simon Pegg, “Freakonomics” University of Chicago Econ professor Steven D. Levitt — what, Dubner doesn’t get any love? — and Sierra herself):

And thanks to all the folks who made submissions — it was, indeed, tough to winnow the list down, and there were several who just missed out.

But who will be the Nerdist of the Year? One of these three, or someone else? Can anyone really top Steve Jobs for the honor? That’s going to be determined on The Nerdist: Year in Review, and that will air, of course, on Christmas Eve, 9/8c, on BBC America. Watch and see.

See, the BBC America Shop wants to get the word out that they have great gift selections and there’s still time to go over there — click here for their Holiday Gift Guide — and make your family and friends very happy indeed. You can also go here for a chance to win a pair of $500 gift cards, one for you, one for a friend. And that’s all great, but they’ve given US a bunch o’ stuff to give away, stuff that you can also buy at BBCAmericaShop.com, and what we have is… well, take a look and you be the judge:

One winner will get:

Doctor Who: Series 6, Part 1 on Blu-ray
The Hour on Blu-ray
BBC Holiday Gift Set DVDs with holiday episodes of 13 different BBC classics, from Are You Being Served? and To the Manor Born to Ballykissangel and Monarch of the Glen
Doctor Who Tardis Mini Set (with little Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond figures!)
Doctor Who Suit Shirt (that’s a t-shirt that looks like the Eleventh Doctor’s bow-tie and suit)
Doctor Who Talking Pen (it has a Dalek gun blast, a Dalek saying “EXTERMINATE!,” and a Cyberman saying “You will be deleted!”)
Guinness baseball cap (Guinness not included)
Doctor Who Silence Nano Recorder

And what do you have to do to win all of that? Just come up with a clever, funny, winning caption for the picture at the top of this post, the one with Matt Smith and James Corden urgently doing… something… with a stroller and net and sonic screwdriver. What ARE they doing, or saying? (Besides what they were doing and saying in the actual episode, that is) That, friends, is up to you.

But you don’t have much time. Entries will be due Sunday night, December 18, 2011 at 11:59 pm Eastern time. And to make judging less of a nightmare task, let’s limit you to a maximum of two caption entries per person. We’ll be the judges and we’ll announce a winner as soon as we can, but no later than, oh, let’s say Friday, the 23rd (although it will likely be before then). All decisions of the judges will be final, so no complaining. All right, some complaining, but do it to yourself, preferably muttered under your breath. Same for this restriction: U.S. entries only, because BBC America Shop can only ship to U.S. addresses. Sorry about that, but it’s beyond our control. And please don’t post entries here — only those properly submitted via email will be considered.

Anyway, once you come up with that perfect caption, send those entries to nerdistcontestentry@gmail.com. Get to it. Time’s a-wastin’.

——-

Okay, deep breath, and… see, we gotta do rules and stuff, because it’s 2011 and that’s just how life is these days, so here are the Official Rules and Legalese:

Official rules: No purchase necessary. Contest open to all legal residents of the United States except employees of Nerdist Industries or GeekChicDaily or contributors to Nerdist.com, or their immediate family members. Void where prohibited by law. Contest runs from 7:15 pm EST December 15, 2011 to 11:59 pm EST December 18, 2011. Winner will be chosen from all qualified entries submitted in a timely fashion to nerdistcontestentry@gmail.com no later than Friday, December 23, 2011 and will be judged by representatives of Nerdist.com, with selection of the winner being at the sole discretion of the judge(s). Winner will be notified by email and will be required to submit a name and mailing address for delivery of the prize; winner’s name may be posted at Nerdist.com at the sole discretion of Nerdist Industries. Still reading? Cool. Entry in the sweepstakes constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these official rules. Chances of winning depend on total entries received. Prizes will be fulfilled by BBC America Shop, and Nerdist Industries shall not be liable for fulfillment. One entrant will be awarded a prize package consisting of Doctor Who: Series 6, Part 1 on Blu-ray; Doctor Who: Series 6, Part 2 on Blu-ray; The Hour on Blu-ray; BBC Holiday Gift Set DVDs; Doctor Who Tardis Mini Set; Doctor Who Suit Shirt; Doctor Who Talking Pen; Guinness baseball cap; 11th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver; and Doctor Who Silence Nano Recorder. In the event any element of the prize package cannot be provided as described here, winner may receive a substitute prize of equal or greater value. Additional prizes may be added to the package at the discretion of BBC America Shop and/or Nerdist Industries.

I know, I know. But here’s some more heavy-duty contest rule language, so bear with us: Entries become the property of Nerdist Industries for purposes of conducting the contest and displaying the entries at Nerdist.com and related sites. By entering, each entrant agrees to defend, indemnify, release and hold harmless Nerdist Industries and its agents and employees from and against any and all losses, demands, damages, rights, claims, actions and liabilities of any kind arising out of or related to the entrant’s participation in the sweepstakes or the entrant’s participation in any prize-related activities (including, without limitation, any property loss, damage, personal injury or death caused to any person(s)). The prize package winner assumes all liability for any injury, death, or damage caused, or allegedly caused, by participating in this sweepstakes or use or redemption of the prize. But let’s hope that the winner doesn’t try to kill anyone with the Talking Pen or anything like that. Hold on, not too much more. Any disputes that may arise hereunder shall be governed in all respects by the laws of the State of California without regard to the conflicts of laws principles of any jurisdiction. Venue with respect to any such disputes shall be had in the state and federal courts of the State of California. All taxes are the responsibility of the sweepstakes winner, who may receive an IRS Form 1099 reflecting the final actual value of the prize, if applicable.

All right, then, let’s take our lawyers’ hats off — actually, I don’t know what a lawyer’s hat would be, and I went to law school — and our thinking caps on — I’ve never seen a thinking cap, either, and I… um… what? Hmm. All right, get working on those captions, and good luck.

You’re surely aware, I trust, that The Nerdist: Year in Review, the next television special from your pals at Nerdist, will be airing on Christmas Eve on BBC America. And as part of the festivities, we and BBC America are asking you — yes, you, right there — to tell us, and them, who should be crowned “Nerdist of the Year,” and why. Is it a tech superstar? A sci-fi scribe? Your boss? Your sister? You can vote for anyone… but you gotta convince us why you’re right.

And here’s how we’re gonna do this thing: You’ll go to this link. You’ll submit a video setting forth your argument for why your pick should be the “Nerd of the Year.” You can use the VideoGenie app on Facebook and your webcam, or you can upload your own video (up to 40 MB and 3 minutes), but either way, the videos will be judged by what the people at BBC America say will be “the combined criteria of most convincing argument and overall geekery.” And the top three videos will appear on BBCAmerica.com and right here on Nerdist.com.

You gotta move fast, because the deadline is December 18th at 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time. And the Nerdist of the Year will be crowned on the show, which, as noted, airs Christmas eve, December 24th, 9/8c on BBC America. Now, go make your case. We’re listening. And watching. And playing Flick Kick Field Goal on our phones. Okay, that’s just me, but, see, you gotta get our attention.

Hey, here’s a quick contest our sibling site GeekChicDaily is running, but you have to act really quick and you’ll need to be able to get to Vegas in a couple of weeks, so here it is: You go to the contest page, you enter your email address before 11:59 pm Pacific time tonight (Monday), and you could win one of 25 pairs of tickets to your day of choice at Creation Entertainment’s Star Trek Las Vegas Con, August 11-14 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in, naturally, Las Vegas. William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Patrick Stewart, and a LOT of others are being billed as appearing; here’s a page with the list.

Anyway, you gotta go here to enter, to find out how to get extra entries, and for all the official rules, which are right there on that page and which are all GeekChicDaily’s thing. Again, you’ll have to get to Vegas on your own and the tickets are for your choice of one of the convention days, but this is kind of the ultimate Star Trek event, so if you’re into it, you’ll want to enter. So do that before 11:59 pm Pacific time TONIGHT. Go!

Well, here’s one of the first things you’ll see out of the new arrangement: You can win a prize package that includes a Jambox Bluetooth-enabled speaker and t-shirts from GeekChicDaily (which, to save me some keystrokes, I’ll abbreviate for the rest of this post as GCD). Interested? Read on….

The Jambox? It’s a speaker that’s a little larger than your hand, and it doubles as a speaker phone via Bluetooth and, they say, can go ten hours on a charge. The Grand Prize winner gets one of those things plus Nerdist and GCD t-shirts. Four runners-up get two t-shirts each (one from each of the Holy Partners).

How do you enter? Go to GCD and subscribe. It’s free. Then click here and submit your email. And then you can get bonus entries on Facebook and Twitter (tweet @geekchicdaily with the hashtag #gcdjambox). The winner’s going to be picked on June 27th. This is a GCD contest, so if you have any questions, ask the GCD people (there’s an email in the official rules below).

Here are the official rules, pasted from GCD:

-The GeekChicDaily Jambox-Nerdist contest is open to all GeekChicDaily subscribers with no purchase necessary.
