Exclusive: Telltale’s GAME OF THRONES Trailer and Character Reveal
By Dan Casey on November 20, 2014
Today, I’m happier than Hodor at a hoedown because the trailer for Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series is finally here and it looks pretty fantastic. Set during the events of the War of the Five Kings, somewhere towards the end of season three of the TV series and running up through the beginning of season five, the game will take players to familiar Westerosi locations like King’s Landing and the Wall, as well as brand new locales like Ironrath, the home of House Forrester. As we learned recently, Telltale’s Game of Thrones will span six episodes, which is a first for the company’s episodic series. This additional episode makes sense though when you pause to consider the epic scope of a world like Westeros and the fact that you’ll be controlling five characters from House Forrester. Yes, that’s right five characters.
The characters in question are Bannermen to House Glover, House Forrester is an ancient and noble house from the Wolfswood in northern Westeros where they serve House Stark, the ruling house of the north. From their seat of power in Ironrath, a castle surrounded by a thicket of imposing ironwood trees, House Forrester are a hardy people made strong by the bleak conditions of the north. Over the course of the game, players will control five different characters from House Forrester, ranging from family members to servants who work for the house. Spread across both Westeros and Essos, they will have to race against time to save House Forrester from destruction at the hands of those who would do them harm.
And now, the trailer for the first episode, “Iron From Ice” is here in all of its teasery majesty.

Holy smokes, you guys. While previous titles like The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, and Tales from the Borderlands had that comic book-y, cel-shaded quality to them, the Game of Thrones trailer makes the game look almost like an oil painting. And before you start going crazy wondering who could do such a good Cersei Lanniset impression, you should know that it’s actually Lena Headey voicing the infamous wine-guzzling, master manipulator. The game will also feature the talents of Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell, and Iwan Rheon as that sausage-shaking bastard Ramsay Snow. Additional cast members will appear in future episodes, but this is one hell of a coup for Telltale, lending the game an automatic air of authenticity right out of the gate.
As for who you’ll be playing as in Game of Thrones, that remains mostly shrouded in mystery…until now. We have one of five exclusive character reveals for your eyeballs right here:
MALCOLM BRANFIELD
Lady Forrester’s Brother
“As a young man, Malcolm was the black sheep of the Branfield family. He liked to roam the countryside in the style of a hedge knight, refusing his father’s offers of marriage and lands. Malcolm fought bravely alongside his brothers when House Branfield fell; yet he and his sister were the only two survivors. Malcolm now lives with Lady Elissa’s new family at Ironrath, though he still tends to disappear for weeks at a stretch. Malcolm has fathered no children, thus he is the last of the Branfield line.”

Details about the official release date are still forthcoming, but the game will be available soon for PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and iOS.

[…] Who the other three are is up for debate. The Escapist originally said that Ryon, the youngest Forrester, was playable, but took that statement back. Gared Tuttle, Lord Forrester’s squire (via IGN), seems a likely candidate though as does Malcolm Branfield, Lady Forrester’s brother (via The Nerdist). […]
