Win a Mondo GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Print in This Poster Roundup
By Charles Webb on August 1, 2014
With James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy out this week, we thought we’d round up the many (many) posters Marvel released in the lead-up to the film. But we’re not just here to peruse fine poster art – you’ll also have a chance to win a Mondo Guardians print by artist Vance Kelly which you may have missed during Comic-Con.
But first, let’s take a look back at what came before.
The team’s glamor shot
Here you go: where Marvel started building excitement for the film and its motley crew of heroes. Interesting fact: the poster with everyone pointing their guns and getting all action-y was called “payoff” when Marvel released it wide.
The “good” guys
Our unheroic heroes. Ah, they’re alright. These images appeared in the second wave of promotion for the film, spotlighting the heroes and offering us a nice, detailed look at Rocket and Groot outside of the obsessive number of screengrabs some of us pulled from the first handful of trailers.
The next wave brought us the film’s heavies – and Corpsman Dey (John. C. Reilly). Dey isn’t really a bad guy in the film: just a space cop who ends up on the wrong side of the Guardians (or vice versa). We were kind of disappointed there wasn’t one for the Collector (Benicio Del Toro), though.
Going Big, Going IMAX
…and we didn’t forget this twilit image of the team by the gang at The Poster Posse:
The Guardians go Mondo
And here it is: all of the posters from Mondo (so far) for Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m not gonna lie: that Mike Mitchell Rocket and Groot is kind of wonderful and I wish it were still available. That’s not to say Francesco Francavilla’s is any kind of slouch: in fact, Phantom City Creative (Drax), Kevin Tong (Rocket), and Randy Ortiz (Groot) all turned in bang-up work here.
Now how would you like to win that Vance Kelly Gamora poster? All you have to do is drop us a line in the comments by next Friday, August 8, letting us know which Guardians poster is your favorite.
