Weezer’s New Album Art is Beastly
By Charles Webb on July 3, 2014
UPDATE 7/9/2014: Weezer has given Everything Will Be Alright In The End a September 30 release date.
Yesterday, Weezer revealed the cover art for their ninth studio album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End and… I’m not so sure what to make of it.
The band has never really excelled at the cover art game–Pinkerton being the sole exception–but look, they’ve revisited the mountain theme! Still, the new art is a variation away from “photo of the band” or “photo of a flying dog” or “photo of that guy from Lost,” which is nice.
The creator of this massive googly-eyed creature is Chris McMahon, who is known for inserting strange monsters into recognizable landscapes. Really getting a Where the Wild Things Are vibe from the subject matter as well as that playful font. Whether that conjures up Weezer’s sound on the album? We will have to wait for the album to drop to see exactly what this cute, enormous monster is all about (the band has been playing coy with the the contents of Everything Will Be Alright in the End for months).
Everything Will Be Alright in the End has no release date yet. But check back for more news on Weezer’s latest LP. Let us know how you think this Weezer album artwork stacks up to the rest over at Nerdist Music!
