DVRs Rejoice as FX Renews Both LOUIE and FARGO

After seriously impressive showings from both Louie and Fargo this past season on FX, it should come as no surprise that the network confirmed at the TCA both series have been renewed for new seasons. Louis C.K.’s Louie will receive a seven episode order for its fifth season, though at this time there’s no word if that means it will be the series’ last hurrah. As for Fargo, season two will feature ten episodes and, like True Detective, will return next year with an all-new cast and story set in a completely different time period.

In addition, the network revealed fan-favorite It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will not be retuning for its tenth season until January 2015 and American Horror Story: Freak Show will (as we expected) premiere in October of this year.

The Fargo renewal isn’t surprising. The show could have gone either the route of a one-and-done thing, or become the next True Detective. It was always going to come down to reception, and luckily it was well-received. As for Louie, the comedy/drama has always been a poor performer ratings-wise for the network, but boasts massive acclaim, which is why FX probably isn’t willing to cancel the series outright.
