THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY – CURTAIN CALL Dated for September, Gets a Collector’s Edition

In the realm of pricey collector’s editions, the $70 package for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call doesn’t sound half-bad. In a press release this morning, Square Enix detailed what you can expect in the set as well as the rhythm game’s North American release date.

Due on September 16 in both regular and “hey-this-is-a-lot-of-stuff” editions, Curtain Call is a sequel to 2012’s Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, which offer’s a rhythm-based tour of Square Enix’s flagship RPG franchise.

The Collector’s Edition, priced at $69.99 only through the Square Enix store, will include a 20-track album from the game’s 221-song soundtrack, the five-track Remix Selections album, and five premium CollectaCards from the game. Square’s limiting this to 5,000 copies so, you know, get ‘em while the getting’s good.

My only gripe: I wish there was a digital-only edition of the set (I don’t want any more CDs in my house), but beyond that, it’s a compelling set.

From Square:

“Featuring adorable miniaturized art style, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call includes 221 songs and over 60 playable characters from the Final Fantasy® franchise – including Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children® and Final Fantasy Tactics®, as well as recently released titles like Lightning Returns™: Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn®. Players can relive nostalgic moments as they tap their way through key Final Fantasy events, field themes and battle arrangements. In addition, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will feature two brand-new modes, the competitive Versus Mode and Quest Medleys, which can be shared via Nintendo 3DS StreetPass™.”
