Key & Peele Say a New Anger Translator is Coming
By Merrill Barr on June 2, 2014
If during a word association game one were to be presented with the phrase “Key & Peele,” there’s a good chance the response the subject would give is, “Obama.” Over its last three seasons, Luther, President Obama’s anger translator, has remained as arguably the comedy duo’s most popular recurring sketch. While it’s hard to say that for sure with so many awesome skits that include the valet guys and anything involving Peele’s character, Megan, the influence of Luther can’t be denied. This is why it’s perhaps no surprise the team’s looking to put a new spin on the idea in the upcoming fourth season.
According to Vulture, Keegan and Jordan are currently in the process of crafting a new anger translator for, wait for it… Hillary Clinton. The news doesn’t come as a huge shock, considering the untapped mine that exists for a character like that, and also, it isn’t uncharted territory. Back in season three, the team came up with an anger translator for Michelle named Contendra, that was an instant hit with fans.
In regards to how Hillary’s currently unnamed anger persona will be structured from a character stand-point, Peele stated the following: “Whereas Michelle’s translator felt like she owned a beauty salon, maybe somewhere on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, I think Hillary’s translator would be more trailer bait. We’re thinking deep Arkansas good ol’ gal who does not censor herself.”
What do you guys think? Are you ready for the next stage of the anger translator story arc? Maybe it could end with all three of them in a room swapping translation stories. That would be awesome.
