Does TRUE DETECTIVE Season Two Feature a Male Lead After All?
By Merrill Barr on June 30, 2014
It’s been one crazy development session for the second season of HBO’s massive critical and audience success, True Detective. Since the end of the first season (which is on track to win some major awards come Emmy time), news and rumors have been running rampant. Everything from word that the new season would focus on a female lead to the idea it would feature three leads have filled our collective consciousness while we wait for official word from HBO or show creator Nic Pizzolatto. However, a new piece of intel has just come out, straight from The Wrap.
According to a tweet made by the publication, the first script of the season has been delivered to the network and apparently it features a “MALE lead & male/female co-stars.” You can see the full tweet below:

This goes against everything we’ve heard so far regarding the new season, and if it does end up featuring a male lead, it will be a real punch in the gut to many fans who were hoping the rumors of a female-led season were true. It would have certainly made for a step in a different direction after the amazing first season.
But, regardless of what the new season ends up becoming, we know we’ll be glued to our couch the night of the premiere to watch, simply because season one was just that good.
