Oh Heck Yes: Danny McBride is Returning to HBO with VICE PRINCIPALS
By Alicia Lutes on May 28, 2014
Some days, good things just appear out of nowhere, gently reminding us that there are still reasons to find joy in the likes of press releases and the future. Which is exactly what happened when HBO sent this little gem of news to our inboxes this morning: Danny McBride, former Eastbound & Down star, will return to the HBO in a brand spankin’ new comedy series, Vice Principals, and we’re already beyond excited.
Created by McBride and his conspirator of comedy, Jody Hill, have re-teamed to bring more of their signature audaciously good hahas to the small screen, focusing this time on the world of vice principals instead of major-ish league baseball.
According to president of HBO Programming, Michael Lombardo, “Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can’t get enough of. The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible.”
Vice Principals will tell the story “of a high school and the people who almost run it, the vice principals” and finds not only Hill and McBride re-teamed, but a lot of the masterminds behind Eastbound & Down, including producers David Gordon Green and Stephanie Lang.
“HBO was the perfect creative family for Eastbound & Down and we’re excited to pack up the van for the next adventure,” noted McBride in the release. Added executive producer Green: “When the idea for the new series became too crazy to keep to ourselves, we knew HBO was the perfect place to unleash it.”
The show is slated for 18 episodes, with the debut date and number of episodes per season to be announced as they are confirmed. Not that we’re impatient or anything but if HBO could just hurry up and get that to us already that would be SWELL, thanks guys!
How excited are you for Vice Principals? Let us know in the comments.
