Will Jessica Chastain Be Teaming With Tom Cruise For MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5?
By Merrill Barr on April 24, 2014
Let’s be honest for a moment, the Mission: Impossible series is one of the best espionage franchises going; It’s just criminally under-played. There were 4 years between 1 and 2, six years between 2 and 3, and 5 years between 3 and Ghotocol (no, 4 does not have a numerical identification, it is forever just Ghotocol). Basically, for us to get a new outing with Ethan Hunt, the Hollywood stars need to align in the most magical of ways, and that’s okay, because the results are usually tremendous.
With today’s rumor, it seems the fifth film in the series – currently scheduled for winter 2015 – will be continuing down that path: Jessica Chastain, one of Hollywood’s hottest talents, doesn’t really dip her toe much in the action/blockbuster pool, but according to a rumor posted by Schmoes Know, producers on the M:I sequel are keen on signing the Zero Dark Thirty star for a “unspecified role” alongside Tom Cruise.
Anyone else pulling for villain? Seriously, picture that for a moment: evil Chastain squaring off with IMF’s top field operative? It’s like magic, ain’t it?
This movie needs to get here faster.
