UPDATE: We’ve added a signing with Chris Hardwick himself on Sunday 2-3 PM!
UPDATE: Jessica Chobot has been added to the Nerdist Panel on Sunday at 12:00PM! Details below…
As convention season, which seems to be competing with road construction season for longest of the year, continues its steady march toward SDCC, we come to an excursion to the fair shores of Anaheim, CA for Wondercon, once again held at the Anaheim Convention Center this weekend, April 18-20th. The entertainment panels and events on display reach the “chock-a-block” phase with things focused on comics, movies, television, and more. Nerdist will most assuredly be on hand all three days with live podcasts, panels, and news programs for you all to enjoy. (Badges are still available for Friday and Sunday, so if you want to attend, do it!)
First up, on Friday, April 18th at 6:30 PM in Room 213, Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon bring you a live episode of The Indoor Kids, talking about the latest and greatest in the video game realm along with special guests Kevin Pereira and Jordan Morris.
And don’t leave the room, because at 7:30 in Room 213, there will be a live episode of James Bonding, in which the Matts, Mira and Gourley, get into a massive debate over who is the best Double-O-Seven, along with a panel of die-hard Bond fanatics, including guests Alie Ward, Georgia Hardstark, and Jordan Morris.
On Saturday, April 19th at 3:30 PM in Room 213, join Jessica Chobot and the rest of the Nerdist News team for Nerdist News Live, an hour-long edition of our daily pop culture and tech news program. The Nerdist team will break down the day’s news, interview guests, and then turn some of the questions (and jokes!) over to you. The panel will feature Nerdist.com’s Dan Casey, Gaming Editor Malik Forté, Executive Producer Mike Shaw, Director Andrew Bowser, and Staff Writer Ben Mekler.
And on Sunday, April 20th, at 12:00 PM, the official Nerdist Panel returns to the Arena (which is the convention center’s huge sporting room in the round). Nerdist founder and grand poobah Chris Hardwick will be joined by guests and heavy-hitters from across our growing Empire to talk about all the big things on the horizon. Will there be surprises? Probably. Big announcements? You betcha! A quemment or 12? I might put money on it if I were you. Chris will be joined on stage by Nerdist News host Jessica Chobot, Nerdist Editor in Chief Brian Walton, Associate Editor Dan Casey, Gaming Editor Malik Forté, Joselyn Hughes of DIY Dammit, Ben Blacker of the Nerdist Writers and Comics Panel podcasts, and Ben Acker of the Thrilling Adventure Hour.
But don’t leave the convention yet, because at 2:00 PM in Room 207, Chloe Dykstra and Johnny Wickham bring you Cosplay 101 to deliver the dirt on how some of the biggest cosplayers in the world create their impressive looks, focusing on fabrication, design, and character. And if you’re a Cosplayer yourself and want to show off your work, bring it! They want to share it with you. The panel will feature costumers and cosplayers Holly Conrad, Jessica Merizan, Frank Ippollito, Jessie Pridemore and Kai Norman.
Signings? You want SIGNINGS now? Like the panels aren’t good enough?!?!? Yep, okay, we’ve got you covered. All of these will be at Booth 1410.
On Sunday at 1:15 PM, come by the booth for a signing with Thrilling Adventure Hour creators Ben Acker and Ben Blacker.
And here’s an UPDATE: Chris Hardwick will be at the Nerdist booth for a signing 2-3 PM Sunday. Come on by and meet our founding father! If you want to meet ‘n’ greet Chris, be at the Nerdist booth at 11 AM to get a ticket. Then return at 1 PM to queue up, and Chris will sign from 2 to 3 PM.
Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram @NerdistDotCom for booth giveaways and updates from the con floor! And, of course, if you happen to spot any of the Nerdist crew out and about on the Wondercon floor, come up and say hello! We’d love to talk to you as you enjoy all of the other fine programming from the folks in Anaheim.
