ALAN PARTRIDGE Sequel, TV Series Already In The Works
By Jake Kroeger on April 5, 2014
Just yesterday, we posted an exclusive clip from Alan Partridge, which hit theaters in limited release in Los Angeles and New York this weekend. If you thought that was it for the good news on the Alan Partridge tip, then, to you, I say, “Ah-Ha!”.
This week, Baby Cow Productions, co-founded by Steve Coogan himself, is going into development on a sequel and a series according to Baby Cow’s other co-founder, Henry Normal. Having just seen the current Alan Partridge movie, I can tell you that this is great news and worthy of us all putting up Google Alerts for when this planned sequel and series are coming out. Even if you haven’t followed Steve Coogan’s self-important sportscaster-turned-TV variety show host-turned-local DJ character Partridge throughout the years, you won’t be lost on how funny nearly every single minute is of Steve Coogan as delightfully unapologetic goofball.
This is also a pretty big milestone for the franchise, which spawned the Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge and I’m Alan Partridge series at the BBC, the web series Alan Partridge’s Mid Morning Matters, and a number of specials at Sky Atlantic, where the new series following Partridge around Norfolk will be. It’s the opening weekend here in the U.S., so it’s hard to say whether the film has gotten a good reception, but, if it does, you might bet that the sequel and series might come stateside as well.
