Mondo to Unveil New Artwork by Martin Ansin and Kevin Tong on March 14th
By Kyle Anderson on March 12, 2014
I think we can all agree that Mondo is responsible for some of the best pop-art movie posters ever to grace art gallery (or living room) walls. Each year, the talented artists give us dozens of new images for us to drool over, and this year is no different. In fact, they’re having a whole gallery about it.
Beginning this Friday, March 14th, at the Mondo Gallery in Austin, TX (4114 Guadalupe Street, to be precise), there will be an art show highlighting the work of two brilliant dabblers in poster illustrations, Martin Ansin and Kevin Tong, who will be unveiling brand new posters and sketches of some of the best-loved sci-fi/fantasy movies of all time, including Alien, Flash Gordon, The Wizard of Oz, and more. Science fiction lends itself better than just about any genre to the Mondo treatment, so this gallery, which will be open until April 12th, is sure to be stellar.
That’s not all! Tong has also done the artwork for a special vinyl release of Steven Price’s Academy Award-winning score to Gravity. That will be available for pre-order Thursday, March 13th, at MondoTees.com.
While the gallery pieces will be kept under wraps until the gallery opens, you can look at the sweetness of his Gravity cover below.
And, just for fun and so you can see what kind of art Ansin and Tong can do, here are some of our favorite Mondo posters they’ve done in the past. Enjoy!
