Donal Logue Is Headed To GOTHAM

While it’s been rumored for a few weeks now, to the point where he was originally erroneously reported to be playing the role that eventually went to Southland’s Ben McKenzie, today it has been confirmed that Donal Logue will be joining the cast of Fox’s upcoming Batman prequel Gotham. Logue will be playing the role of Jim Gordon’s partner, Det. Harvey Bullock. There’s currently no word on what the status of Bullock’s character heading into the series is going to be, as in there’s no word if at the start of the series he’s already the corrupt officer we know, or if he’ll slowly become that throughout the course of the series.

Currently, the character is described as the “rough-around-the-edges partner of the future Commissioner Gordon, played by McKenzie.” While this may have been one of the first “leaked” casting rumors to come out of the Gotham camp, it’s also one of the most exciting. If his latest stint on Sons of Anarchy proved anything, it’s that Logue is a highly capable actor who can go from good guy to tragic to villain in a matter of moments. He’s absolutely the right choice to play the character of Harvey Bullock.

If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a dozen times: while on initial review the idea of Gotham seemed ludicrous, it’s actually shaping up to be one of the most exciting new shows of next season. With roles confirmed for The Penguin, Alfred, Captain Essen and Barbara Kean, it seems we might just be getting The Shield set in the world of Batman, or something along those lines. No matter what, all these truly amazing out-of-the-box choices are really making Gotham a show that needs to be checked out come the fall.

  • He’d make a great Bullock, especially as part of an ensemble cast as this show seems to be assembling. That seems to be when he does his best work. Great TV shows are almost always more than the sum of their parts.

  • So, let me guess … Ted McGinley was busy ? Don’t get me wrong, I love Donal Logue. But he hasn’t had a good track record when it comes to television shows.
