It’ll Be Back! A TERMINATOR Series In Conjunction with Film Reboot

Because the franchise has been left dormant for a whole four years (and we can’t have that), it seems that we will not only have a new Terminator film trilogy reboot, we’ll also have a TV series to accompany it. In yet another instance of a studio attempting to pre-Marvel their properties, Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures, the company behind the upcoming movies, have announced a companion television program which will be written and executive produced by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, who were writers on X-Men: First Class and Thor. The writers of the movie, Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier, will also serve as executive producers.

According to the report by Deadline, the series will begin at a “key moment” after the 1984 film and spin off in a wildly different direction from Terminator 2 and the rest of the sequels and series. The story for the new film is pretty tightly guarded, but the safe money is on it, too, taking James Cameron’s original as its basis and going elsewhere with it. Endoskeletons will be walking around sooner rather than later, though, as the film is scheduled for release in 2015, along with every major movie in the known universe.

What do you think about this news? Are you happy about the new Terminator franchise negating all that has come before? Do you think they’re trying too hard to copy what Marvel has done with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Let us know in the comments.

  • This series has time travel at its core; the basic idea was to change the future. The idea of alternate futures doesn’t bother me. I think of it as the Butterfly Effect with robotics. :) I was dismayed that the series was cancelled; to stop it at John disappearing into the future was an insult to all fans. I agree that Fox should be banned from touching it. I really liked Lena Headey in the role as Sarah, but Emelia Clarke is my favorite from GoT so I am intrigued .

  • agents of S.H.I.E.L.D was awful they wasted all of their budget getting big name actors to make 5 minute appearances the act was awful as well. i truly hope they don’t make the same mistake

i feel they should have continued the terminator salvation series because if you go back and watch all of the movies they still never ended the story line for the original series.

so all in all i dont know how i feel about it i hope for the best but expect the worst until i see other wise.

  • Love the movies and tv series so far. Even if they go in different direction it might alter timeline but it won’t nullify the old stuff in my eyes. Bring it on.

  • I’m pretty indifferent to the reboot. I am a huge Terminator fan, but I don’t really know where they could possibly take it using the currently munged-up timeline.
