5 Nerdist Network Shows Make Paste’s ’20 Best Comedy Podcasts Of 2013.’ Yay, Us.
By Perry Michael Simon on December 29, 2013
So, Paste Magazine did a list of the 20 Best Comedy Podcasts of 2013, and Nerdist Podcast Networks did okay. And by “okay,” I mean five of our shows made the list, accompanied by some of the worthiest podcasts from other sources. So “okay” means “we’re REALLY proud.”
The honored Nerdist podcasts include the flagship Nerdist Podcast (“When the most negative thing you can say about a podcast is that occasionally the hosts sound like they’re having too much fun, you know you have something good on your hands”) at number 2, right behind WTF with Marc Maron; The Thrilling Adventure Hour (“the premise… pretty much sells itself”) at number 6, followed immediately by the lilting laugh of Pete Holmes on You Made it Weird at 7; Janet Varney’s The JV Club (“endlessly listenable”) in at number 13; and in at 17, Pop My Culture (“it’s the rich chemistry between Cole Stratton and Vanessa Ragland that makes you want to tune in to each installment”).
That is too cool. Dining With Doug and Karen‘s Doug Benson is on the list with his “other” podcast, Doug Loves Movies, too, as is the often-taped-at-NerdMelt-Showroom Harmontown, and the other honorees are hard to dispute, from Comedy Bang! Bang! and Never Not Funny to Walking the Room, The Bugle, Uhh Yeah Dude… go look at Mark Rozeman’s full list here and just subscribe to all of ‘em. Maybe next year, all 20 slots will be Nerdist shows….
