@midnight Last Night: Jonah Ray, Ali Wong, Howard Kremer

LogoAtMidnightIf you missed @midnight with Chris Hardwick last night on Comedy Central, you missed the long-awaited appearance of our own Jonah Ray, he of the Nerdist Podcast, Jonah Raydio, and plaid. Ali Wong and Howard Kremer were also complicit. And they talked about emojis, Oprah’s yard sale, and so much more.

But we’re here to help. If you missed it, watch these clips:

Sweet Emoji – Sentence Sentiment

#HashtagWars – #BadCoffeeFlavors

That’s all we have at the moment – other clips are having technical problems, so hang in there for now. But you can see the whole episode by clicking here, and why not do that?

Coming up tonight on @midnight, it’s Michael Che, Iliza Shlesinger, and Rhys Darby. Watch it on on Comedy Central at midnight ET/PT. And follow the show’s Tumblr and, of course, the Twitter account. Insert appropriate emoji here.

  • Ok…to preface this statement…I like The Nerdist, I am addicted to the Podcasts and I “like” Chris Hardwick…but WTF is up with this “show” if you can cal it that. It is more like impromptu-stand-up comedy…maybe, and not very good comedy. Definitely “not” a game show (if that was their intention).

And what is up with Jonah…is there someone behind the screen flipping him on and off…becasue he is like a robot….just stands there…then someone flips his switch, he turns on (tell a dick or pussy joke), then flip, he is back off…too weird.

And Chris H., just a little criticism…don’t try so hard when you laugh…it looks fake. You seem much more genuine on the podcasts (and I can’t even see you on those).

    :)

  • Gotta disagree. I think this most recent @Midnight was in the best so far. Seems like they fixed the “on the left” buzzer, Hardwick doesn’t zombie eye to camera much anymore and you’d think at this point that “seems like impromptu” standup, uh yeah, that’s it exactly. I mean do people really think there’s a title for Funniest Person in The World? It’s good and I hope it gets picked up for a long haul.

  • This is going to sound awful but I’m surprised at how funny this show is. Who cares about the premise. It’s Comedy Central. It’s a show that allows comics to be funny. Just go with it.

The passive aggression was so thick on Jonah’s episode, but he and Chris kept it just on this side of awkward.

I can’t figure Jonah out. I know he wants to do music and standup and possibly acting. It seems like he just tolerates everything else. But too cool for school is his thing and it’s working for him so far.

Congrats on the show. It seems like it’s doing well. I hope they bring you guys back for more.
