Comic-Con Preview: The TV Shows!

“Comic-Con is more than just comic books,” said someone looking to receive a response of “doy.” The yearly San Diego nerd explosion has become the place for fans to get up close and personal with their favorite television programs’ casts and crews. This year is no exception, with a whole bevy of panels and entertainment with all manner of TV shows. Here are just some of the ones we’re excited for that will be on display during the Week of Wonders. (™Nerdist)

 

Battlestar Galactica 35th Anniversary Panel
Thursday, 10:30am, Room 6BCS
Richard Hatch, Apollo from the original series and Tom Zarek in the reboot, hosts a panel with writers from all of the different permutations of the series to celebrate its jade anniversary. (Are you surprised I knew that?)

Comedy Legends of TV Land
Thursday, 12:00pm, Indigo Ballroom, Hilton Bayfront
Roseanne Barr, William Shatner, Donald Faison, and Wayne Knight talk about being comedy legends who’ve been on TV Land. It’s just one of the weirdest groups of people ever assembled, and will probably be full of insanity.

Comedy Central’s Workaholics
Thursday, 2:00pm, Indigo Ballroom, Hilton Bayfront
The cast of the hit Comedy Central program (and former guests of All Star Celebrity Bowling) dish about being slackers on a TV show they created, write, and perform in.

Nick Re-Mix: It’s Time to Go Behind the Slime

Join Chris Hardwick as he moderates a panel featuring Hey Arnold! creator Craig Bartlett, The Adventures of Pete & Pete creators Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi, Sanjay & Craig creators Jay Howell and Jim Dirschberger, and Breadwinners creators Steve Borst and Gary Doodles as they discuss what it takes to make weird, funny, and enduring cartoon shows.

Sherlock

Co-creators and writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss and producer Sue Vertue talk about, and likely give tantalizingly little info on, the next series of BBC and PBS’s amazing update of the Conan Doyle characters.

TV Guide Celebrates The X-Files’ 20th Anniversary

Making me feel about a million years old, this panel will look at the landmark science fiction/horror series 20 years after it initially aired. On the panel will be creator Chris Carter, stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, and writers/producers David Amann, Vince Gilligan, Howard Gordon, Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, John Shiban and Jim Wong.

Wilfred Q&A and Screening
Thursday, 4:00pm, Indigo Ballroom, Hilton Bayfront
FX’s weird show about a guy who sees his neighbor’s dog as a dude in a dog suit is back for another season and stars Elijah Wood, Jason Gann, Fiona Gubelmann, Dorian Brown, and executive producers Reed Askew, Eli Jorne, David Zuckerman, and Randall Einhorn will be on hand to answer queries and give a sneak peak at a new episode.

Entertainment Weekly’s Brave New Heroes

Here’s a cool one: Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf), and David Giuntoli (Grimm) talk about what it’s like to be good guys on TV.

John Barrowman: Anything Goes

Nerdist friend and Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Arrow actor John Barrowman is on stage with his sister Carole Barrowman for an hour talking about anything under the sun. His pants will likely drop; it’s happened before.

It’s time to say goodbye to the TV serial killer that started the new trend of TV serial killers. Stars Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, James Remar, and David Zayas as well as exec prods John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Scott Buck, and Many Coto talk about the final season of Showtime’s hit.

Hannibal: Feed Your Fear
Thursday, 6:45pm, Room 6A
As a counterpoint to the above, Hannibal’s Bryan Fuller, David Slade, Martha DeLaurentiis, and star Hugh Dancy talk about the new season of America’s new favorite TV serial killer show.

Cartoon Network/[adult swim] Shows
Friday beginning at 10:00am, Indigo Ballroom, Hilton Bayfront
If you like your shows on the Cartoon Network side, you’ll want to park it in the Indigo Ballroom all morning for panels for Regular Show, Adventure Time, Venture Bros, Children’s Hospital, NTSF: SD: SUV::, The Eric Andre Show, and Robot Chicken right in a row.

Legend of Korra

The Avatar: The Last Airbender spinoff starring the host of the Nerdist Network’s JV Club, Janet Varney, holds a panel with all sorts of personnel to show fans never-before-seen artwork, clips, and secrets about Book II.

The Walking Dead

Talking Dead host and founder of this here parish, Chris Hardwick, moderates this panel about the record breaking third season and the upcoming fourth season of the hit AMC horror program. A packed group of participants includes actors Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, David Morrissey, Scott Wilson and Chad Coleman, new showrunner Scott Gimple, executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert, and Emmy-winning special makeup effects maestro Greg Nicotero.

Game of Thrones

This show is awesome, as well you know. Film critic and radio host Elvis Mitchell moderates this panel and Q&A about the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s book series featuring creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, and stars John Bradley, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, Kit Harrington, Rose Leslie, and Richard Madden. The panel for ABC’s hit fairy tale spin will feature co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz to talk about the new season, which takes characters and audiences down the rabbit hole. Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

Showrunner Steven Moffat and stars Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman discuss the 50th anniversary special (airing in November) and writer Mark Gatiss and actor David Bradley discuss the special An Adventure in Space and Time about the making of Doctor Who in the ‘60s.

Why even leave Hall H? Hardwick is back to moderate the panel celebrating the fans of Community and got it saved from cancellation TWICE, plus about the return of creator/showrunner Dan Harmon! Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong are all scheduled to appear.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

The gang’s all here for a screening and Q&A surrounding the ninth season of everybody’s favorite show about horrible people trying to get rich. Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Kaitlin Olsen, and Danny DeVito will all be there.
