Previewing “The Nerdist” with Elijah Wood and Ben Schwartz, Plus Win An Autographed DVD from BBC America

Nerdist2013Ep4elijahwoodPOSTHey, is that Elijah Wood with Chris, Jonah, and Matt in that picture there? Why, yes, it is, but you already know that Frodo/Wilfred’s owner Ryan/the-cinematic-version-of-Jonathan-Safran-Foer is going to be one of the guests on Saturday night’s episode of The Nerdist on BBC America, 10/9c, following — can we do this all together now? — all-new episodes of Doctor Who and Orphan Black. Elijah will be talking about his Comic-Con experiences and Wilfred, and Ben Schwartz will be on to talk about House of Lies, his improv project Snowpants, and being Jean-Ralphio on Parks and Recreation. Also, because it wouldn’t be The Nerdist without Jonah and Matt playing a game, there’s a round of “Doctor Who Creature, Men’s Cologne, or Icelandic Rock Band,” and Kumail Nanjiani drops in for a Lord of the Rings vs. Star Trek debate, in which you can join during the show by tweeting your opinion with the hashtag #PointCounterpointCounterpoint. Oh, and Katie Crown will do some standup. She’s funny.

Last week, we told you about a contest being held by BBC America that gave away a DVD autographed by Chris, Jonah, and Matt, and, whaddya know, they’re doing it again. This week, what you need to do is to click here and post your answer to this question in the comments section on that page: “If you could live in any fantasy world, which would it be and why?” You have until Saturday night, April 20th, at 11p (ET). No, NOT HERE. Go to BBC America’s contest page and post your fantasy THERE. (My fantasy world? One where the (expletive deleted) Phillies would actually score some runs and Roy Halladay wouldn’t suddenly lose his velocity and command and… okay, enough sports)

So, your mission: a) Go here and post your answer to the question “If you could live in any fantasy world, which would it be and why?” b) Watch The Nerdist on BBC America, Saturday, 10/9c, after all-new episodes of Doctor Who and Orphan Black. You can do this. I know you can.

  • @Anthony – I didn’t actually notice anything phallic…but if “interweb gravitational lensing effect” is just a fancy term for “distracted by copious amounts of red plaid,” then you are absolutely correct, sir!

  • @MischaD – The phalic symbol between Matt and Jonah makes Jonah much larger. Plus the internet makes everything look bigger than in person. No really, it’s a factoid, look it up, it’s right next to “interweb gravitational lensing effect”.

  • My ability to focus on any words in this article has been destroyed by the realization that Elijah is Mini-Jonah…or is Jonah like a Bigfoot Elijah? I can’t tell! MInd-hole = blown.
