  • Mcfarlane was terrible!! His insights ranged from vacuous to simply erroneous, and he obviously takes himself too seriously. He was trying to hit on Holden – who wasn’t interested for obvious reasons: she even points out how ridiculous his “in-depth” analysis is. Thank goodness for Nanjiani who is able to lighten it up occasionally and relieve the awkwardness.

  • I for one enjoyed McFarlane’s insights and theories, who was coming from another writer’s perspective.. Anyway it was all speculative, I’d watch an episode directed by Todd. I was also glad Kumail was on the show tonight. Chris, can’t wait to see your stand-up in Denver =D

  • Well, you’re certainly entitled to like Mcfarlane Ted.

I found his “theories” asinine. I can forgive the “laurie is the adult”…as that was clearly one of his failed attempts to endear himself to Holden. The ridiculous “go back, and watch, but imagine Milton is the mastermind”…is of course, idiot. As were his assertion “no really….go back and watch”. Um…yes…..except if we go back and watch, we clearly see that Milton has done very little that to influence the behavior of the governor or anyone else…and thus his little twist, would seem contrived and baseless.

This is the type of superficial thought that makes Hollywood writing so poor these days. Not only would the be a rather pedestrian “surprise”, with the complete lack of set-up, and no supporting tangential aspects, it would absolutely FLOP ie. “OH….O….K…..yeah…that’s a “surprise”…..maybe they should just have made Glenn or Carol the mastermind…..it would make just as much sense, and be a bigger surprise…..yay…..”

You could see how terrible Hardwick (though of course he could never admit it) and Holden thought his “idea’ was, and how they both tried to move past it quickly.

I’ll say this, he is good at boasting..,…if on national TV for 20+ min…you can’t hide the fact that you are insecure, you have a serious problem in life. Yes…we all know you are a “writer” also…and a “boss” of many employees……LOL. Too bad mentioning that was extraneous and clearly: purposeful. That kind of sophisticated social roostering may work in junior-high Todd, but rarely does it work with mature adults.

  • …and hey….credit again to Nanjian (and Hardwick)i for keeping things light, and credit to Hardwick and Holden for glossing over Mcfarlane’s comments, and making the best of the situation.

  • @richardd,

You’re dead on, man. I usually love watching Talking Dead, but I couldn’t get through the second commercial break last night with McFarlane. He was sooooooooooooooooo serious and pretentious and just so INTO himself it was off-putting. I really like the comedian though, that whole “I’d have sex with the Governor then kill him” bit was hilarious (then he got in trouble with the dogs and cats thing, which was even more hilarious). I have it recorded so I might go back and watch it again, but fast-forward through whenever McFarlane starts to talk. Plus, Laurie Holden was gorgeous. I’ve been a fan of hers since her “Magnificent Seven” days!

  • I’m not a lover or hater of McFarlane, but I thought he made some good points (e.g., the point about how the Governor has demonstrated a pattern of wanting to box people in, with Daryl/Merle, his daughter, and so on, literally and figuartively…the Milton theory came out of left field, but otherwise, I’m not sure why where the vitriol is coming from.

As for Laurie Holden’s reaction to him, I think they were BOTH being flirty/affectionate. At one point, she said that she was impressed by what he said (in a non-sarcastic way), and at another point, she held his hand. This isn’t normally a sign of repulsion. Well, that or that means my girlfriend must be disgusted by me.

  • Thanks Jack, yes, I think Mcfarlane’s pretentious ego was on clear display…and frankly….I was disappointed. I encourage you to actually listen to all he says….he got laughably worse!

Still, good showing by everyone else, if there is one blessing, my esteem for the other three increased….though honestly, it would have been great if one put aside grace for a second and said “what an asinine insight….tell us more…” ;-) Though they almost do…Holden has to outright declare that Milton is “good”, and Hardwick just tries to move on. At another point, Holden mocks Mcfarlane (in a gentle but dark way) saying: gee….I’m just amazed by these theories…like an academic analysis. LOL.

Oh well, no big deal, as long as Mcfarlane never, ever, ever, writes for the show!

  • I was more put off by Laurie Holden, she seemed to be pleading with the audience to save face as I’m sure a lot of fans have been reacting negatively to her character this season and writing about it on the boards. I was truly hoping to see her offed this episode, i was expecting her head in a fish tank at the end of the episode, would have made a better ending, but le sigh.. Don’t get me wrong comic book andrea is my favorite character, tv Andrea: least favorite. But oh how I love to hate her :)

I did listen to everything he said; you should read my post. I didn’t agree with everything he said, but I can admit when a good point is made. You really hate the man, don’t you?

John: As evidenced by the passage you quoted, my reply was to “Jack”, not you. I did not find your post of merit, and I am certainly not interested in engaging in juvenile accusations of fan-boy love or hate.

  • I thought you just misspelled my name and were talking to me. Didn’t bother carefully picking through every post, given that literally half of the posts in the comments section are you obsessively hating on McFarlane. It’s like he robbed you or something. Anyway, carry on.

Well considering you failed to comprehend whom I was even replying to. and given that you admit you didn’t really read my posts, I am sure we can all weigh the validity of your criticisms and insults accordingly.

Trolls…they can’t hide it for long – they just can’t help themselves. :-)

So I’m curious. What’s with this boner of hatred for McFarlane? Did he steal your gf? Or is a gf out of the question?

BUT….but…I DO…I DO HAVE A GF!!!! OOOOHHhhh…..you are making me so angry!! You don’t even knoooowww meee!!!!!

ROFL. Ah, the ever so witty barbs of the preteen! So biting and insightful. Soon you will be trolling with Breakfast Club level sophistication. So silly. :-)

  • I was wondering if anyone else noticed how odd Todd McFarlane’s voice seemed? It is very different from the way it used to be. I thought perhaps some sort of medical problem or procedure was involved, which I won’t begin to speculate upon. Anyway, I hope he’s alright.

Chris was hilarious as always, and so was Kumail. But I take offense to anyone disliking Andrea! I think the world of her. Kill her off, indeed! Shame on you, Ted!

Oh, and please stop this juvenile argument, richardd and john. Lets keep this friendly, shall we?

  • I will have to agree about Todd McFarlane being a tool. I started hoping that they would shut his mike off and save us from the torture of hearing him anymore. Yes….we all know he is a great man……a legend in his own mind! He was pretty much doing everything to Holden except trying to tear off her clothing.
