It’s the Nerdist podcast live from Gilda’s Laugh Fest in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 15th! The guys talk about doing the live show from a church, witnessing horrible karaoke, and what the world would be like without chairs!

  6. This made me laugh…speaking of tragedies my community had a bad one but nobody knows about it as we got a new pope that day. Needed the laugh. I don’t know if I’m ever getting past the image of Chris in a 3 way with diarrhea.

  7. @Damon: a fair question! The problem is that many of those shows were so long because we were still figuring out the live format that I feel they’re too long to post. In other cases, some of the content was too referential of the experience and I think is more of “you just had to be there” kind of shows. We’ve streamlined quite a bit so it shouldn’t be a problem anymore. If you were at the live show, consider it special! And thanks!!

  18. I too am sad that my live show was never aired on the podcast. I understand why but I still selfishly want to relive it. It was like an amazing concert; I had such a great time that I can’t really remember it! Maybe someday you could release the vault on the website somewhere?
    Also, there is No Way that us michiganders actually like the snow and cold. We bitch about it all the time:-P

    dudes..this one was a HOOT! jam-packed with hilarious riffs. Might be the first time ive heard “Cats in the Cradle” and didnt break down weaping like a little kid with a skinned knee (#songs-that-make-me-cry). And the Chair-bit?!? brilliant!

  23. Guys, we loved having you in this Freezing Fuckhole of Ass Juice and hope you consider returning for Laugh Fest next year. We can’t promise better weather, but we have an ungodly number of churches in the area you can defile. See what I did there?

    FYI Chris, I also turned 41 in November (the same day you did, I believe) and have a hard time with the whole George Jetson thing. After re-watching Clueless recently, I was also horrified to realize Wallace Shawn’s Mr. Hall was a mere six years older than I am now. Just fucking kill me now.

  27. @PattyMarvel, I am always up for some Team Matt love, but I actually thought to myself: “Jonah is on FIRE, tonight!” With slamdunk lines like:

    “It’s crazy that, like with all the Christian religions, it’s like Mexican food: It’s all the same ingredients, it’s just in different orders.”

    and…

    “Sometimes, we dig a nerdhole that even WE can’t get out of!”

  28. Finally! A live podcast I WAS AT! Loved the show. I know this was before the recorded podcast portion, but Chris comes out in a costume and calls himself a 12 year old, I thought my wife was going to piss her pants from laughter. If the podcast comes anywhere near you, GO!

  37. Such an amazing show live! I’m the quempliments girl and I’m super excited I was on the podcast, but so embarrassed at how much I nerded out. You can actually hear the nervous quaver in my voice! Also embarrassed that Chris asked me my name, I misheard him and thought he wanted to know my question which I’d never gotten to. So…my name is Ashlee! I’m sorry for laughing in Chris’ face! He’s the sweetest and best nerd.
    Go see the podcast live any chance you can because it was AWESOME.
