Hey Indoor Kids, love the podcast. In the past 3 weeks I have listened to every episode in reverse order while I’m at work, so the older pods are much fresher in my mind then the newer ones. Anyway I’m writing this to say that I miss the bit where you guys would mention the games you felt had slipped under the radar, there are so many good games out there that have just failed to market themselves properly or have been overshadowed by a big budget release. There is one game that I have played about a year ago that got no exposure what so ever, and that game is Enslaved- Odyssey to the West. This game is a rehash of the old monkey king legend but set in a post apocalyptic future. Now I know that most people are completely sick of the post apocalyptic setting in movies/books/games at this point but this game does it differently. there is none of the bleakness that comes with 99% media that takes place in this setting, the colors and scenery are so vibrant and beautiful that it took my breath away. Game play wise its a plat-former that feels like it borrows elements from the prince of persia series and brawlers like god of war/heavenly sword/ninja gaiden. This was one of my most treasured game experiences in recent years and I wanted to share it with you guys. Also i hope you bring back the segment of games that have flown under the radar so we can find more of these diamonds in the rough.
Ok I think I’ve figured out the whole sex comparison.
So if the console reveal is ANAL, the controller is obviously a hand job. OBVIOUSLY. I think oral would be the pre-rendered game teases and previews and maybe the developers talking about the game. As you guys stated the vag sex is playable game demos that they show off.
Also DLC would be considered fisting.

I realize you guys are a console-centric podcast,(though Emily does play some PC stuff….nice on FTL) You guys fail to mention the Steam box. IMHO Valve is going to completely revolutionize the living room with this thing (your Steam library in the living room !!! ) The only reason that I find I would ever even buy the new PS4/Xbox consoles would be because of the exclusive content ie. Gears of War, God of War, War of War, etc. But other than that, I see no reason to buy the next Xbox or the PS4 when I can have the Steam box, which will give me the absolutely AMAZING steam library and their ridiculous sales. Cheaper games, better service, and the fact that they say I can upgrade it, LINUX, well shit, I’m sold (not to mention it’s Valve and they are THE innovators right now. Can you give us your inputs on the Steam Box guys? I honestly hope that Valve runs Microsoft and Sony into the grave.
I like the idea that some celebrities are running on Big Head Mode.
When Burnside was saying the type of Xenomorphs you can play as in Team Deathmatch, he said, “there’s one that can spit acid, there’s one that’s really great at lunging, and then there’s another one…” I was hoping he would say, “and the Boomer”. There’s even a tank knock off!
Last, anybody else play the Alien Vs. Predator multiplayer for the PC? Holy cow was that great! You could play as Marines, Xenomorphs or Predators. I also take umbridge when “Cliffy B” says that Gears invented Horde Mode cause AvP had an amazing “horde” mode. You and other players (humans and predators could team up) had to make it a little moon base while fighting off denizens of aliens while you waiting for an escape vehicle to arrive. So good!
Great episode. Burnside is an awesome addition to the show.

It really is a shame that you guys would write off the Killzone franchise seemingly without actually playing any of the games. The Helghast are one of the more compelling (and sympathetic) antagonists of this generation.

Sony posted the dimensions and it turns out that the new dualshock is almost exactly the same size as the current one- they just moved the start and select buttons out of the way to fit in the touch pad:
PS3 controller: 160mm x 55mm x 97mm
PS4 controller: 162mm x 52mm x 98mm

That was my personal 2012 GOTY. About 30 hours played right now. Managed to beat it a couple times on Easy and almost – aalllllmost – on Normal.
Nothing to do with the podcast, but until looking at the promo pic for this episode I had never realized how much Jhonen Vasquez looks like a mexican Andy Samberg.
If I had been talking with Mr. Vasquez it would have been a multi hour show about JTHM. I guess this is why I don’t do a podcast about video games. Great show!
Ultimate props to Emily and Kumail for pulling the J.D. Salinger of comics into the light, even if only for a half hour. I really can’t wait to hear about those projects, I hope they wind up actually going through, whatever they are. I’d love to see some new creative content from Jhonen Vasquez. Not that his prints and character designs and music videos aren’t great, I’d just love to see something that’s fully his.
Have you guys (Emily/Kumail, or msg board) ever players Dark Souls? Highly recommended!! Takes about 4-5 hours to really get the hang of it but so rewarding once you do.
IGN was just sold by News Corp and purchased by another large media company – Ziff Davis, along with their related sites: 1UP, UGO and AskMen.com. So the layoffs and restructuring was the result of the new owner taking over and moving things around for their own corporate purposes. IGN has been passed around to a few different companies over the last few years.
I’m so happy you had Jhonen on, and extra glad that Emily got to read Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. Please oh please do yourself a favor and get a copy of Squee’s Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors (I mean, really, if the title doesn’t sell it, what could I possible add?).
