I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

Constructive criticism: I’m as interested in the process as the next guy, but this one was tough. I think he would have been better served if you had mentioned the show at the top and at the end and ignored it all together the rest of the time. At least if you were just shooting the shit and telling stupid stories the entire time we could get a good feel for his sense of humor and possibly become interested in the show.
To be brutally honest, I think I’ll probably pass on the show after listening to this.
I can comment on the Deaf/Close Captioning issue. My wife is deaf and she and I watch love watching stand up on Comedy Central and other channels as well. For her, as long as the captions are the correct words (Autocorrect on the Caption software can really suck) and not faster than she can read (she reads extremely fast) she’s fine. I, however, am now used to the captions on the screen, sometimes I’m lost without them. It really is all about the pacing of the captions for me. If the captions are faster than the comic than I have to consciously avoid looking at them. If it’s slower it doesn’t bother me at all.
I’m glad Ben is doing this show. His was one of my favorite segments on Infomania. And his bit/sketch with Bryan Safi using Grindr was drop dead funny. I found it interesting that Ben and Jonah’s Current TV horror stories mirror stories I’ve heard Matt Mira, and Candace Bailey tell about G4. It makes me think that there is little to no hope for television for people who like quirky funny eccentric television (except for maybe on Comedy Central and Cartoon Network)
Holy crud Chris, I had almost the exact same thing happen to me with a girl I knew right down to the sweatpants! The only difference is I got my shirt back.
Jonah’s line about how the girl was curating a sweatpants museum cracked me up. Good stuff.
HEY! You almost said AMAZING in the promo! DARN YOU HARDWICK FOR EDITING YOURSELF!!!!!
good podcast, best part is on the last mine,
Chris: “I need to just stare at something and zone out for an hour..”
Jonah: “tits”
BAHAHAH.
min*
Lara: Lah-rah
Boy, that was strenuous. I hope Ben is more funny than entertaining.
By having Ben Hoffman on the podcast,I think Jonah really did his friend a solid here.I had never heard of Ben before this podcast & it intrigued me enough to catch the first episode of his show. I really enjoyed it, and now plan on watching the next one. Thanks Nerdist, now I’m off to enjoy my burrito.
Watched the first episode of his show after being unaware of Ben before the podcast. Pleasantly surprised how solid and funny it was for a first episode. The todd bridges crack story alone was worth dvr’ing it. Once again nerdist knows what is relevant to my interests.
Glad I’m not the only one who still pronounces GIF with a hard g, despite knowing better…
Ben has an incredibly non-descript face.
