I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

As someone who did oxy and heroin for a few years, I relate a lot to Joe’s story. He’s right about how it makes you feel, and it is very hard to only dabble in. The people you see are terrible and I feel so grateful to have made it out.
Anyway, I love the show and Pete you were amazing in DC last month.
Perfect episode. Quintessential YMIW, innit?
This was an absolutely amazing episode. Really good innit?
Amazing episode.
great episode. that hug story was really nice but it was also tragic because he didnt take the pussy
Pete has found the bizaro himself. Hearing about the church stories makes me feel so comfortable with the fact that I’m not a church kid anymore, too. Thank you Pete and Joe!
This episode hit home for me in a lot of ways. Joe said a lot of my thoughts and feelings in a perfect way. This was the perfect episode to start the new year with. Thanks you.
Terrific work! That is the kind of information that should be shared around the internet.
Disgrace on Google for now not positioning this put up upper!
Come on over and consult with my web site . Thanks =)
Phenomenal episode.
Delusions of control, innit.
It’s the Shah, innit, Pete?
Ayatollah Khomeini? or is there another dude?
Fly over, play nine rounds, run a country, fly home! When’s my break? Never!… That’s an all day job, innit?’ I would have been jazzed to have that go on lit-tra-lee the whole episode!
” You are the most legitimate person I have ever known’ -PH >JH
Time politely bended! Is this guy the best?
Jesus jokes. Best kind. Great ep, Pete.
The British accent is Ricky Gervais mixed with the announcer voice between programs on BBC (“Next up on BBC 2, Extras, with guest appearances by Patrick Stewart”).
best show on the internet
Fell in love with this Joe guy a little bit. Just sayin.
Dear Joe, you are just wonderful and I hope you find peace of mind!
This was great! One of my favourite episodes for sure!
So so good! What an honest delight this episode was. Best YMIW in a long while! Love Mr. Hartzler, and I can’t wait to see more from him. And I’m super pumped to see those VW spots. Thanks Pete!
Great episode, innit? This was a super fresh episode…fresh as in new perspectives on the tried-and-true topics, not fresh circa 90s hip-hop. Joe was an amazing guest. Thanks guys! Free podcast!
Favourite moment: 1:22:40 Bernie the date monster! I rewound and listened to that about 8 times. “She’s the one! She probably hates me!”
My favorite episode! Love them!
Incredible episode! Loved it!
As a married, religious, 23 year-old, long-form improviser I found a lot to relate to in this fantastic episode. This is in the top 5 of YMIW and maybe the internet.
This episode is so perfect – levity and British accents to start, the darkness of ‘dead mates’, and friend-hug iffy-ness. Inconceivable!
Oh Pete,
a lot of silly British accents, church and adolescent vulgarity. You’ve done better.
Where is that video of the polite English road rage? really want to watch it
Loved it! One of my favorite eps.
Looking forward to seeing you two in those VW ads together.
Great episode. Loved Bernie the date pinch hitter.
Confession: I’ve listened to this podcast three times – it’s that good! I really want to give Joe a hug because he sounds really sweet and he’s obviously hilarious so stop being so down on yourself, son!
Also, thank you for speaking so candidly about your crisis of faith and your dead mates – I’ve had similar circumstances to deal with, so I truly appreciate it
