I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick

Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

hay Big C! isn’t that “WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? I AM!”? which doesn’t make sense and is delightful.
also delightful.. that drive up the CA coast on the 1, K-T spoke of! so gorgeous! fear not the falling geology. put it on your bucket list!
good times.
Whoa! Thanks for using my artwork again!
‘parts unknown’ = Crawfordsville, IN. As someone from central IN…. accurate.
Chris, when we stand on the precipice and feel terror, we’re not afraid we’ll fall or be pushed, we’re afraid we’ll jump!
Hi guys, love the show! Long time listener, first time commenter. CH, everyone is right…you are too hard on yourself! You were just fine in this episode…that being said, I just had to share what I found to be a humorous coincidence while I was listening to this ep. You were talking about not feeling well (fighting off the oncoming flu) and I think the words you used were “I just want to feel better”. Maybe it was because I was working (I review medical charts), or maybe it was just the way it sounded in my head, but it reminded me of one of those anti-depressant commercials… coincidentally I just so happened to be reading a chart for someone with major depressive disorder. I could help but crack up! Thanks for keeping the day job more entertaining!
*couldn’t* …sorry for such a long previous post!
I thought it said “Slick Rick” and almost fell out of my chair.
Hooray for Little Ears! She should definitey be in more than just intros .I’d also like to hear a Slick Rick podcast. I’m not sure that’s in Chris’s wheelhouse, but I wouldn’t think the wrestlers would be eother, and they were both good. In fact, I find I enjoy the ones that aren’t in Chris’s comedy wheelhouse more a lot of the time. The comedy ones get a lttle self-satisfied sometimes. Though, sometimes they’re great, too.
First post. Such a casual and funny hostful, coulda listened for another hour. Bad hostful? No, itsa nice! Jonah rocks too, hope he feels better. Great to hear from Katie too. Chris, that startle awake thing is a kind of apnea, you should see a doctor and get a sleep study. That can really screw up sleep/immune system/daytime anxiety. You work too hard and maybe your psyche is fighting it a bit?
Oh, and don’t travel to relax, travel is exhausting. Stay home. Have a day with NOTHING on your schedule, not even TV watching.” Sorry to be presumptuous but that’s one man’s opinion, one with apnea and anxiety. Thanks for all the fun.
Chris’ subconscious:
“Whattya want a Nerdist transatlantic airship service now? No, you are gonna rest and I’m going to hold your breath for you until you enjoy a calming chaos-free burrito. Got it? Good.
Still wondering why it wasn’t called Flu-Ray.
Big C! I know you get uncomfortable, but Matt Mira saying awful things and then laughing that sweet cherubic laugh really fuels my rocket ship.
Hey Guys! WIll you dedicate an episode of Nerdist Podcast to Aaron Swartz and discuss what happened! I can’t stop thinking about him and how much contributed to internet culture. He should be here today, not shamed into suicide for having ideas about sharing public information with…the public.

Punched in the glans? Ouch!
Oh, if only Jonah had been there on this ep. Surely, he wouldn’t have missed the chance to say “That’s what she said!” at the 18m40sec. mark… Right after talking about it, and the fact that Chris said it was a part of some of his new stand-up material, it was a perfect missed opportunity.
Great ep. btw.
The People’s Choice Awards have basically turned into the Teen’s Choice Awards.
Mike O’Malley is on Glee and I think you should have him on your podcast!
@Jetpack Blue – Oh, YOU and your CRAZY jokes! BTW, one of my favorite novels is Christopher Moore’s “Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story” and it’s set in San Francisco and much is made about what neighborhoods are good and which ones should be avoided. You know, in between the vampires sucking and fucking.
@Kate Lavine – HURRAY for more estrogen on the show! Please return to the mic soon!
@Matt Mira – “Tell us about it, Dad!” You are on FIRE as of late! BTW, keep the beard. It makes you look super butch.
Voodoo Doughnuts’ “The Elvis” sounds orgasmically good. I must be hungry.
@Chris Hardwick – Funny you should mention hosting SNL. Today is “Suggestion Day” on @nbcsnl , so I tweeted, “Please have Stephen Colbert & @nerdist Chris Hardwick on to #SNLHost and @garfunkeloates & @jonathancoulton on as #SNLMusic !” Let’s see who makes it.
There needs to be a nickname for Matt when he’s not restrained by Jonah Ray. Free-mouthin’ Mira? Someone more clever needs to come up with it.
This was a fun podcast – Chris wasn’t as lethargic as he makes himself out to be in the intro, Matt was hilarious, and Katie kept the laughs and stories moving right along – no letdown here at all.
Chris, you sounded just fine. I’m glad you posted this episode because I thoroughly enjoyed it
