Chell Bowls in the Winning Valve/Nerdist Mashup Contest Entry
by Brian Walton on January 30, 2013
Congratulations are in order for Sadierose Schwarzmiller. She’s the artist behind the awesome Valve/Nerdist mashup art you see here that won the Mashup Contest for a trip to the DICE conference in Las Vegas. Chell and Gordon Freeman couldn’t catch a break, apparently, when they did Chris Hardwick’s All-Star Celebrity Bowling.
After going through over 70 entries, the field was narrowed to ten finalists, which you can see on the Nerdist/Valve Mashup Pinterest board. An honorable mention goes to Jeffrey Albert’s entry, a Chrome extension that turns Nerdist.com into a Steam doppleganger.
Stay tuned to Nerdist.com and the Nerdist Channel for more from the DICE conference and awards in Las Vegas.

Thank you so much– those are some strong submissions! …How did I get through?! I cried from super-happiness when I got the e-mail. While I was at the gym.
Congrats Sadierose! Seriously high bar with some awesome entries from some very talented artists!
Congrats on the win Sadierose. I lol’ed on the Left 4 Dead mash-up with the burrito Sais or Nunchuriitos held by Chris.
Thanks, as Im not much of an artist but a decent developer I tried thinking outside the box on this one! I was really hoping to go and just meant all the other developers there because I love chatting with fellow devs. I am going to update my extension more to fix some of the problems with it. and make it more efficient. I spent a long time on it, and want to make it better. I didn’t want to update it until after the winners were announced. So now I want to make it better!!
Wow what an awesome idea Sadierose! It’s one of those when I think to myself “why didn’t I think of that!” Very clever and fantastically drawn piece. Wish I thought of this magnitude when I did my piece. Have fun in Vegas!!!
That comic sure takes the cake (pun unregretably intended)!
Excellent job, Sadierose, and a big congrats! It reminds me of one of Valve’s own comics!
And a whole Chrome extention!?! Dang, that’s awesome, Jeffery!
Also, thank you Nerdist for putting me in with the finalists! I didn’t even expect to get that far! So glad you liked it!
MonkeyRevenge, your Chrome extension was certainly outside the box. That’s a pretty slick idea!
I love all the comradery between companies and groups in this culture space. It’s some of my very favorite moments when I see mutual appreciation among different leaders of industries I love and adore. The interviews with Gabe and this contest are examples of that.
“This is not Aperture, Chell. There are rules.”
