Internet on Random: Skipping Stones with TMNT’s Master Splinter

Remember when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles formed a band and went on a tour presented by Pizza Hut? Stop lying, yes, you do. The hair band vibe of the “Coming Out of Their Shells Tour” was pretty freaking epic, but one of the gems of the album was actually Splinter’s contribution, “Skipping Stones.” Looking back now, though, the song, video and performance are all gloriously ’90′s cheese, but back then, this song was our Bon Jovi. Remember kids, the rings of the puddle are what you put out into the world, a Splinter precursor to “Don’t be a dick.”
This was always the song I’d fast forward through. This and the dumb April song.
HELL YES!! Oh my god I loved this tape so much as a kid. I also have it saved in my music on grooveshark. Still listen to it sometimes. One of those pieces of nostalgia that will never die. I’m so glad you posted this! Keep walkin’ straight and singin’ about it, my man!

This was my first concert, first row mezzanine at Radio City Music Hall. Every nerd has those formative experiences, and, despite the obvious cheese, this was one of mine. I don’t know if this is purely nostalgia talking, but this tune brings a smile to my face without fail.
The second I popped in the cassette after eating at Pizza Hut it broke. Talk about a sign.

I loved this album as a child. Carried the cassette tape with my everywhere and probably wore it out listening to it. Ah yes, the glory days of the TMNT. Movie, cartoon and a live action freaking concert.
Doing tai chi on stage while making sure to hold on to the microphone – priceless.

Not only did I have this on VHS but BEFORE that my dad took me to the show, I don’t remember a lot from that age, but I remember that day like it was yesterday. One of my best memories of my dad, I thought that was sooooo cool of him. He even bought me some nunchukas at the concert but after the show he took me to Whataburger and I left them at the table! It was a tragic loss and I have never fully recovered from that loss…the horror….the horror…
