I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick

Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

I just love the way Janet says “Hey guys…” at the beginning of each episode. So sweet and genuine.
Time to put on your baby wranglers and turn up the swamp rock. Get ready guys (and girls), cause this is gonna be a good one.
Gene, I completely agree. I wish I could wake up to Janet saying “Hey guys….” although I know that would never ever actually wake me up since nothing wakes me up. Seems nice in theory.
Can’t wait to listen to this! I’ve been following Tig since I saw Louis CK tweet about her Largo show. Technical issues prevent me from downloading it immediately. Also just wanted to say, Janet, that I love your podcast. I go to seminary (Protestant, not Mormon
)and spend about five hours a week driving – your podcast helps pass the time really well. Keep up the amazing work, and can’t wait for the next season of LoK!
The beginning of the episode is all mixed up and layered under last week’s episode. Is it just me? (Starts about 2min in during the intro.)
No, VCEden, it’s definitely slightly scrambled on the link at the moment, at least using the “button” for streaming directly from the page.. .I haven’t tried the download yet. Lizzy Caplan is an excellent substitute, and look forward to hearing that one…only wish I was close enough to make some hard choices among the LA festival presentations…
Oh! Thanks for telling me! I’ll email Katie immediately!
We’re aware of the problem and it appears to be something involving the streaming here rather than the download; our webmaster is on the case. Thanks for your patience.
Yup…the “direct download” is also affected, but it does Go Away as the shout-outs wrap up.
Love the dueling I Started This At This School gambits in the interview…now that things are looking up for Tig Notaro (and we all hope they continue to improve and that time actually heals and her new audiences stick with her), we can get down to the Important Matters, such as how does a good Pretenders and Beatles fan fall into even ironic regular Alabama (the country music analog of Journey )-fests?
Thanks for the episode…”How can we screw up as much as possible and still succeed” is slightly incomplete…for at least some of those teachers (among others) were failing Notaro, as the rigid systems consistently do fail at least some kids all the time…and the answer to that isn’t More Rigidity (and fewer resources). But that sure is the easy answer. (And, of course, some of your other guests have had to deal with even more remarkable failures of those around them.)
@VCEden i had the same problem, a little before the 2 minute mark until a little before the 3 minute mark. But after that, it goes away.
Can’t wait for the follow-up!
Tig is great. Can’t wait for the next Tig episode. Great job on HPlive Janet. I’ve been watching constantly.
Tig is always worth having to deal with a little sonic difficulty. And do go to Louis C.K.’s site and buy her Largo post-cancer-diagnosis set, which is jaw-droppingly awesome. A bargain at five bucks.

I love that the track doubling ended just as Janet apologized for over-talking.
I have a cousin who was home-schooled because his mom was worried about something like Tig’s self-graded F happening (even if home-schooling brought up issues of its own). It’s great to hear that Tig didn’t let a failure of the system hold her down.
I want more photos of teen Tig!
I loved this episode Janet! Tig is fantastic and I can’t wait for the 2nd interview.
