I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

Yes! The perfect start to my week; some Indoor Kids Podcasting.
Great episode guys!
pun intended
I normally don’t comment on stuff ever, but i want you guys to know that your podcast is awesome and it’s pretty much the only reason i go to this site everyday.. oh, that and browsing through other podcasts just to see if kumail or emily is a guest on one of them
As someone that has been watching TWiT for years now all of the G4 talk is giving me a freaking headache. I still love the show, but sometime I just wish I could run into the room and steer the conversation just a little bit away from a particular topic. Enjoy the talk about the industry though, and I think for other people less familiar with the environment the G4 discussion is perfect…Just a bit torn that’s all. Charging ahead nonetheless.
Thinking I might just pause this and go play The Binding of Issac for a bit, (if it weren’t for Emily I wouldn’t be obsessed with this game!)
Partners is awesome!
I know board games may not be your cup of tea, but this interest Guy, and or Emily.
It is called 1960: Making the President. One player is Nixon and the other player is Kennedy. It is a campaign game. Great episode. I kinda of wish you guys were on daily.

To BBQ’s point, The You Made It Weird With Pete Holmes episodes w/ Emily and Kumail are seriously the best!
*(I would also recommend the You Made It Weird episodes w/ Gary Gulman & the Greg Behrendt).
ALL Indoor Kids episodes are awesome, but I REALLY enjoyed the Duncan Trussell episode.
It’s great to hear Guy back on the podcast, I love his protective perspective on nerd culture. This hour flies by amazingly fast and we even get a new nerd-culture-slogan T-shirt from this ep:
“Nothing is ever going to be as hard as Kid Icarus”
That shirt should be eggplant purple.
My repeat play demo game? Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, I loved that game! Too bad Activision turned into the evil empire, I can never buy anything from that franchise again. (Forgive the soapbox, Activision is my personal boycott.)
In honor of Douglas Adams, from now on I will refer to the sensation of feeling connected to other living beings in the universe through a joke that only 10% of the audience understood as “Cambridge”. And if you get that reference, enjoy your Cambridge my friends!
Brown Coats Forever.
Really glad to hear someone else bring up the problem with how “evil” people or mindsets are portrayed…It annoys me that, for example, the characters we see in a lot of movies about racism are unfeeling, piggish morons, instead of all the quite-possibly relatable people who contribute to an injustice on a larger scale.
It’s probably because people don’t want to relate to evil. That, and by making it cartoon-ish, it’s less human and therefore less real of a situation. People want a black and white, good guy/bad guy type of experience. Unfortunately, it’s this tendency that stops us from analyzing our own “evil” thoughts/actions and those of the people around us.
It’s also a lot harder to write fully human, more relatable characters…but too many movies are indeed taking the easy route.
In the summary, I read “election simulation” as “electric stimulation”
I used to play the shit out of the Lost Vikings demo on my Star Trek 25th Anniversary CD-ROM.
I love Guy. I wish I could vote for you brother. I have to vote Giant Douche or Turd Sandwich. I’m writing in my vote for Ron Paul. Guy, you have a fan in NC. God bless you.
Please please please. Never do cocaine during an episode again. This episode made me so uncomfortable.
Awesome to hear the FTL love! That game is amazing. Also seconding the recommendation for the boardgame 1960: The Making of the President. It’s currently out of print so it could be hard to track down for a decent price, but totally worth it.
I got on the IK podcast bandwagon pretty early on and have enjoyed every episode. Some guests just stand out a bit more and this is one of them.
Guy is a delight to listen to along with you guys. Some people you just seem to have a really cool vibe with and he is one of them.
Either way, look forward to more!
I love you two and I still really enjoy the podcast, but I wish you would actually talk about video games. The podcast has been steadily heading away from video games, its still enjoyable but not what I’m tuning into listen to.
