I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

I don’t want to completely blow your mind, but Henry Howard Holmes is the alias of Herman Mudgett, a serial killer from the 1800′s who ran a “castle” in chicago who murdered up to 200 people in his super crazy chicago castle hotel.
Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!
H.H. Holmes, dog.

Actually, it’s not clear whether he was actually named Holmes or Mudgett…the guy knew how to cover his tracks. But the writer and editor Anthony Boucher (real name, William White) reviewed crime fiction for THE NEW YORK TIMES in the ’50s and ’60s as Boucher and at the same time for THE NEW YORK HERALD TRIBUNE as H. H. Holmes…and as the founding co-editor of THE MAGAZINE OF FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION, he wrote humorous verse fillers for the magazine as Herman Mudgett. (I believe Boucher was also the first to publish an English translation of Jorge Luis Borges, and he conducted a nationally-syndicated opera radio show from the Pacifica station in Berkeley.) Robert Bloch, who created Norman Bates in writing the novel PSYCHO, also wrote a novel inspired by Holmes at the World’s Fair, AMERICAN GOTHIC, and a long work of nonfiction, about twenty/25 years before Larsen’s DEVIL,

Love Howard, can’t wait to listen!

“All your thoughts on God” is a line from Counting Blue Cars by Dishwalla. I am not ashamed that I knew that off the top of my head.
Nineties high-five, Val. When I move to Allison Road I want you to be my neighbor. We’ll have dog parties.
I jumped on here to pass on the H. H. Holmes, info but it looks like we are covered here. Pete’s listening to his Stuff to Blow Your Mind, cause I just learned that penis head fact.
Also, you will have at least 1 weirdo in Peoria, IL, I can make the trek up.
Hey Kyle, What about breakfast at Tiffany’s?
Pete, have you been watching a documentary on jai alai, or something? It seems like it’s been getting mentioned a lot, recently.
Kremer seems like an eminently likable guy. Hadn’t heard his stuff before this, and the bit of research I did on Summah makes it very appealing. Thanks for introducing me to someone new, Pete.
These two together dropkick joy over the fence.
Have you ever had a sauvignon blanc at 4 in the afternoon?
Lurve.
PETE! I love your Kumail impression! You’re exactly right….it’s so accurate and so wrong at the same time. Love it. I want you to do that for an entire episode.
Pecan – like the bullet noise. I’m sure it’s all in the dialect and it works either way but my family had a pecan orchard for years and we always pronounced it like the ricochet.
