I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick

Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

Usually not a fan of Chris’ impressions or funny voices, but his Bane is a comic gem.
I love the chemistry between John Barrowman and the boys.
@toonsmyth It’s always been my dream to see something of mine animated. Let’s make that happen!
@Wendy You DO realize that @Chris is pacing in a hotel room somewhere now asking Chloe “Why isn’t Wendy usually of a fan of my funny voices? They are funny, right? Chlo? Chloe??”
I’d be all over that Bill Simmons podcast if you could get him to do it. The only catch would be the inevitable 30 or 40 “SIMMONS!”‘s in the comments.
love it love it, you guys are awesome and john barrowman damn it you just amazing lol
Chloe IS freaking friendly!!! I spotted her at a wizard rock show at the Troubadour and somehow mustered up the courage to talk to her. I wasn’t sure if it was her at first until I spotted the Nerdist logo on her iphone case. She was so nice she actually conversed with me (which was hard since I was so nervous I had slightly lost the ability to speak). Great person and wonderful hugger. Totally made my day!
P.S. I don’t mean to bore anybody with my story but it’s just that I can’t tell any of my friends or family members this (not that I haven’t tried) because none of them know about the famous people I admire. The times I’ve tried telling my friends, they all showed no appreciation for my experience. It makes me sad that none of the people who are close to me even know who Chloe Dykstra or Chris Hardwick are. ‘Tis the disadvantage of living in a very ghetto hispanic neighborhood.
Matt. What a cunt. When his heart explodes I’ll be first in line to pee on his headstone and instagram it while laughing

Dear mr hardwick,
please offer mr barrowman a podcast at nerdist ind.. we need a amazing gay nerd podcaster !!
sincerely
gay love nerd barrowman
@mr e – THIS! Holy crap THIS! And the best part is, he could record it almost anywhere with the right equipment, even on a long trans-Atlantic flight. Shoot, he could probably bang out at least three just chatting with the people seated nearest him.
@Matt’s future cancer – Wow, someone THAT angry clearly hasn’t been blown in a good long time. Best just to take care of your own business as well as you can…maybe with one of those hand-held vacuums?
Hostfulls are just the best!
“Would you like to see my… weirdly-large, morphine-raged, cock?”
You guys should take a trip to Edmonton, AB, Canada this October for the inaugural Edmonton Comic Expo. It would be an interesting contrast for you guys to have just attended Comic-Con and Dragon-Con to attend a con in its earliest stage possible.
Plus I would love to meet all three of you! I look forward to the podcast every week!
@MFC I’m willing to bet that the vapid, pathetic, misdirected rage that’s devoured your soul will also end up consuming your body long before Matt requires a headstone.
@Scrib I should have specified, I am not a fan of anyone doing impressions or funny voices. Didn’t mean to single out Chris in particular. It was a poorly worded comment on my part. But despite my misgivings, Chris’s Bane voice still had me laughing out loud.
John Barrowman is effing awesome! Loved the old timey Bane!
Dear Matt Mira,
I love you most of all(sorry Chris but I just identify more with Matt) I am one of the people who responded to your MCD death tweet. I wrote “@MattMira Little Harsh buddy, he was great in Green Mile, don’t be such a @jonahray” I didn’t Unfollow you because even though I did not like what you said, enough to say something, I still like you. As you mentioned, you went on a blocking spree, this hurts me because you have responded to me in the past, and I would like the ability to ask, mention, suggest, or god forbid criticize if need be in the future. I have never been harsh or a dick(I think). And yes I know Jonah is “not a hipster” but he sports the attitude alot and that was the reference I was trying to make. If you choose to leave me blocked I understand as I am also very familiar with rejection and do not like to be exposed to it, even on a small level like I tweeted.
Still a huge fan either way(though saddened)
Brian Schopf aka @ZombiedOOd
Matt I am totally with you on this. I feel like reactions to celebrities deaths are often manufactured and in many ways cheapens what the family or loved ones may be experiencing. Lots of people just throwing up a random manufactured meme about how sad they are does nothing to express any real feelings or even direct them in a productive direction. They will post the status reap the comments and then never think of the person again.
Mullholland Madness sounds like the cars should have been 1950 Packards and all the ride attendants dressed in raincoats and fedoras.
@Wendy, I agree! I have this weird laugh that when I’m laughing too hard it just sounds very strange like I’m choking on food (luckily it’s pretty rare). That Bane impression, since I wasn’t expecting it, and it was so spot on, made me do that laugh! It was so hilarious I had to pause twice just to get it out of my system. I just think he sounds so much like Captain Picard! :O
I’m still freaked out by the geeky fans of this show. They are stalking the hosts of the show it feels like. Talking about Hardwicks gf like they know her freaks me out.
Chris bought a house with someone he wasn’t married to? STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!
Let me just say that I appreciated Matt’s obscure Next Generation reference when he mentioned “ugly bags of mostly water.” Well played, sir. Well-played.
Also, if you can’t get Michael Dorn for TNG bowling but are able to get Frakes, Spiner, and Sirtis, just rope in Tom Wilson and you can do a ‘Gargoyles’ bowling! We’re deep in the Geek Well now…
And if LeVar Burton is still up for it, he can be on team Nerdist…
listening now, and loved john at the beginning. i’m happy for you all, but also jealous that you’re friends with john! i read his book a few years ago, i don’t recall the in-flight story. i agree (if not obvious already), we need more john barrowman in the US! please return to iowa, and bring john!
I would like to see a podcast with John Barrowman and Old Timey Bane. I think the interplay between the two men would be fantastic. Plus Old Timey Bane doesn’t have teeth, right?
I also liked how Matt is so much taller than Chris in the graphic for the podcast.
I’m holding my breath until the Nerdist Podcast comes to Vegas. Please don’t let me die. I’m too young and pretty.
Nice Leon Redbone, guys(the only time Crosby sounded anything like that was at the start of his career, when he was still imitating Jolson).
By the way, while therapy is useful, the common wisdom that talking about something always makes it better?–the latest research says that it actually has the opposite effect.
One of the funnest hostfuls I’ve heard in a while! Just a thought, they have goth day, gay day, dapper day….can you set up a Nerdist Day at Disneyland?!
When I heard you guys talk about the Golden Girls, I swear, I thought Daniel Kino was going to pop in the room.
Bane voice sounds like Deckard Cain
