I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

I used to tie up my parents’ phone from 6-9pm every sunday, wading through hours of busy signals just for that glorious moment of talking to the cast on the phone. my first celebrity obsession. come to think of it, my last as well.
introduced me to tom lehrer
I grew up listening to Dr Demento and Weird Al, thanks to my dad so this was yet another badarse episode to stumble across.
I love that he mentioned, briefly, that he used to host specials on MTV, that is how I first got introduced to a lot of the ‘staples’. I first saw the video for Fish Heads by Barnes and Barnes on one of his MTV specials. Once I found him on the radio I would stay up late on Sunday nights and listen to him. Great memories.
I loved this episode. Dr. Demento is so knowledgeable and with it. Also, I loved the song by Dan at the end.
I really like your interview with Dr Demento. I to had a hit on the Dr Demento show called Have a Peanut Butter Sandwich which you can check out at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/artpaul4
LOVE Dr. D! I used to lay on the floor in the living room of my parent’s house, with the headphones on, taping his shows so I wouldn’t miss any songs I didn’t have yet. Then I would memorize them and hide the tapes so my friends wouldn’t take them. Live long and prosper, Dr. Demento! We love you!
