    Apart from that. HOLYSHITCARLAGUGINO. I’ve had a major crush on her since forever. This podcast did not alleviate it. At all. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have the courage to talk to her either. Now less that ever. Good things do come in petite packages.

  13. I love Carla Gugino. I grew up watching Spin City and then fell in love with her again when I saw Sin City (hahaha, Spin City – Sin City). Top notch.

  20. Ha! Awkward moment with some genuinely funny joking about tortured geese right after the guest points out that she does actually give a shit. Didn’t know whether to laugh or cover my eyes…

    But again with Reddit… it’s a weak greatest hits regurgitation of only the most easily palatable & packagable 4chan content. I don’t get Chris’s fascination with it.

  22. omg, this woman’s so gorgeous and she just drew me in from just the audio. During the whole episode I never once had the feeling that she was pandering to “nerd culture” but she seems to like it a lot from a genuine place. That fear of celebrities trying to pander for more butts to that film they starred in was never here and I am so relieved. Dunno why I had that idea in the first place.

    Just to add an lol for Matt’s consistently aired twitter correspondence towards Gordon Ramsey. XD.

    I was just watching The Nerdist BBCA Special. That guy who wants to create a time machine to save his father – He DOES realize that if he succeeds, he will negate the motivation for creating the machine in the fitrst place, right? He may save his dad, but the resulting paradox could tear asunder the very fabric of the space/time continuum! Somebody stop him before he sends that coffee bean back in time!

  26. From someone who used to work at a movie theatre, when the bulb burns out it is not that easy to switch out. The bulb housing is extremely hot and taking the bulb out too quickly can result in lots of tiny glass shards exploding. The bulbs are also expensive, like $750+ when I worked there, so you tend not to have lots of them on hand. A minor detail, I know, but I’m a nerd…..

  28. Am 100% behind Carla Gugino when she said you can tell much about a person’s character by how they treat their waiter. There is SO much truth to that it should be THE litmus test in all relationships, professional or personal. Reminds me of a line from “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” that reads:

    “Sirius shook his head and said, ‘She’s got the measure of [Barty] Crouch better than you have, Ron. If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.’”

    Not comparing abused house elves to put-upon waiters, but the theory is the same. Barbara Walters once said on “The View” how SHE never had a problem dealing with Martha Stewart, so she couldn’t understand where all of these terrible stories about her were coming from. I sat there thinking, “Of course she was nice to YOU because you’re Barbara Farking Walters!” Follow Stewart around for a day and observe how she treats the guy driving her taxi or the barista who made her latte and see what you find.

  31. What is wrong with Matt that he had the beautiful Carla Gugino in the studio mere feet from him and took his eyes off her to check Twitter? (Not to mention it was kind of a rude way to treat a guest.)

  32. yeah, dude, checking your twitter during an interview is just bad form. Specially while talking about getting someone else on the show. That’s just disrespectful. Gotta work or want to check twitter? Just sit the interview out.

  33. @Chris: It’s not just the weird and disgusting… Rule 34 actually states: “If it exists, there’s porn of it.” :D
