I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick

Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

This should be good!
Get her lesser half Hot Saucerman on here too. I’d love to get into his head and past and deep dark secrets…
I do believe this is the first time I’ve heard someone ask Fuck/Marry/Kill about Baby Hitler.
Okay, wow, that was super fascinating and hilarious. Awesome awesome ep.
i am disturbing the co-inhabitants of this cubicle farm with raucous booming laughter. It’s Friday…screw it. Glowstick status: cracked.

First, loved the episode as always.
Arg, I hate to be such a debbie downer, but whenever someone says we only use 10% of our brain I laugh. We use all of it, there isn’t some untapped resource in all of us that just needs to be tapped.
When in doubt, just snopes it.

Again sorry for being such a debbie.
Only eleven minutes in and already in a fit of laughter!
I can`t believe this is free.
Giggles: soo many giggles!
Long showers as tools of rage? That might be the saddest life habit I’ve ever heard. PETE, HEAL THYSELF!
Pete , forgive me if I missed an episode where you talked about it but have you ever seen Waking Life? As someone else who is fascinated with dreams, its an awesome dream movie that is very unique.
There’s an endless amount of real science that the average person hasn’t learned about, why leapfrog all of that for mystical, unsupported bullshit?
I will try and stop the rage shower thing! I have to HEAAALLLL!!!
Also, Matt, I DID recently see Waking Life and loved it! Thank you tho. Need to watch it again, actually…
And Germ, yeah, I see your point (really, I do!) but also love the weird meandering mystical stuff, too!
I have astral traveled once…It was in my sleep, and I met a dead person, woke up wrote down what they told me, googled it, and Wah-Lah, It was a real human that killed themself…It truly made it weird…
holy shit china DOES look like a witch on a broom. mind = blown,
It kinda looks like a pregnant witch riding a nuke.
Wheenshield wheepers. *licks clock*
I just wanted to say thanks to Kulap for talking about this stuff. AND for being hilarious while doing so. So helpful and brilliant. Keep up the deep shit, Pete.
I love, love, love this *FREE* podcast, but like Roman & Germ, I get all twitchy when Pete’s obviously curious mind jumps to new age-y stuff, totally ignoring mind-blowing ideas that are knowable or known. I’m a psych professor, so debunking the “10% of your brain” myth, left/right-brained-ness, and Freudian crappola are sisyphean challenges for me. I think some people are afraid that understanding more about how things work will make the world less magical, but in my experience, it’s the opposite, with the added bonus of sounding smart at dinner parties.
It sucks that so many scientists aren’t good at communicating about their work, but there are some great exceptions, like David Eagleman’s book: http://www.amazon.com/Incognito-The-Secret-Lives-Brain/dp/0307377334
Folks who are interested in sleeping / dreaming / meditating might like journalist Jeff “The Head Trip” http://www.amazon.com/The-Head-Trip-Adventures-Consciousness/dp/1400064848
Loved this ep – did a desktop background ‘shop of Pete in a Bennigan’s vest on Kulap’s moose.

You speak as if they are two separate drugs, but Ayahuasca=DMT. DMT is the psychedelic ingredient. Most likely DMT may be referring to the crystal form (smokable), but they are both cultivated from the same plants. Only when smoking, the MAOI ingredient is not needed.
Anyway, this was surprisingly one of my favorite episodes. Scott is totally the lucky one.
