I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

This was great guys, I laughed my ass not off, but to the point where I formed a time loop caused by Frasier’s starship (nerd points for those who chuckle at the reference).
My only Q, where’s Jonah? Need to do some more interviews with all three of you guys. Who’s next on the TNG roster, Franks, McFadden?
Love Levar!!! Love the Reading Rainbow App! Love Nerds! Great podcast boyz!
@Chris – You got to drive Gene Roddenberry home?!?! You, Sir, have lead a charmed life! @Matt – I’d like to see a Star Drek performance, but I live in Cleveland. Any chance of taking it on the road like “Cinematic Titanic?” I’m just tickled by “Alpha Three Nine” being Picard’s transporter safe word.
Holy Shit, guys. Choked on my burrito on this one. Can’t stop larfing at Matt and Levar in “Alpha Three Nine!!” Sounds like a new show for the YouTube channel. And please make a pilot of the new reality show “Love: Mary Lyn Style”
Laughed so hard about matts nerd out. I remember that episode. Was a super good one.
Speaking of the banana clip origins of Geordie’s VISOR:

I do so hope Levar has seen the Jimmy Fallon take on the Reading Rainbow theme song:

I would watch web series Alpha Three Nine … just saying. Also, as a result of this episode I went and watched all of Brent Spiner’s “Fresh Hell.” Hilarious!! Subtle. Also: Dick jokes. Everyone should watch it.
So much fun guys, thanks!
Listening to this ep made me remember how much I loved TNG growing up! Maybe I’ll go rewatch “Timescape” …
OOhh man what a missed opportunity at the 51 minute mark!!! Matt, he set you up big time to come back with ” but you don’t have to take my word for it.” I was waiting, WAITING for you to come back with that.
Great podcast, great time listening. Thanks!
Hilarious Episode!!!! This was by far in my top five. Can’t wait for the the next time he stops by. Your guys bantered well together.
Geordi with a jheri curl: http://goo.gl/QRQ8D
Note: That is NOT LeVar Burton
You can’t disappoint a podcast!
But seriously, hilarious episode.
The back and forth between Matt and Levar literally had me crying I was laughing so hard. Great episode!
Oh Matt.. you poor bastard.
This was one of the funniest and funnest episodes to listen to. Thanks so much for continuing to post free content that is so enjoyable. Now to watch Timescape! (Again)
Actually, this was a really great podcast, and the first one that I’m going to comment on.
LeVar Burton should really think about getting into podcasting himself; man has a voice that could melt neutronium itself!
What I found very disappointing was Matt’s dismissive, throwaway comment when talking about Shatner how the first 6 Star Trek movies were “unsuccessful”.
Apparently you would know “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” if you watched more than TNG…try some TOS, DS9, VOY, and ENT for good measure.
Sorry that the 6 movies with the TOS cast don’t cut if for you (yes Spockalypse Now and Trek V weren’t the best), but TWOK, TVH, and even TUC are way better than Nemesis, and hold up against First Contact (and probably beat out Generations and Insurrection too).
In the future, please think before you go all fanboyfrothy at the mouth, and realize that there is more to Trek than TNG; TNG may have revitalized it, but DS9 4evar baby!
LeVar is the coolest guy I know. He played Star Trek, Reading Rainbow, and of course, never seen before, the dean of the university, Paul Haley, from Perception. I saw it on TNT. I love LeVar Burton.
“oh my god, matt mira.” that floored me.
Yeah! What doc and matt said! — shit! Did I miss everything again????
@Josh – Well, the zombie apocalypse came and went. We humans won ‘cuz of all the survival and fighting tactics we learned from watching “Walking Dead” AND I got this really nice mansion that used to belong to some actor named Bill…something. Oh, and now that the planetary population is down to about two billion people, we no longer have shortages of ANYTHING! It’s a win win!
@Patty holy crapola!!! I was WONDERING why the 5 was so open recently!!! Are you Legend? Been looking for Legend. Does anyone know a “Legend” here? Paging Dr. Legend. Dr. Legend, undead party of six?
I listened to this podcast and the Brent Spiner one in the same sitting, and I was laughing so hard I was crying. Unfortunately, I was eating dinner alone at the Cheesecake Factory at the time. This is not so much a sad commentary on life, as it is the one night a year my parents have the kids while my husband is out of town. But the crying, that was hard to explain. I think the wait staff is worried about me. Thanks for making my staycation so much fun. I love you. And LB! and Data! So so very much.
I so missed out on Reading Rainbow as a kid, and that makes me sad. Halfway through the episode now, great so far.
Sir Patrick Asshole about made me pee myself. Just thought I would share.
1- loved this podcast! LeVar, and every TNG actor, sound like fun amazing people to know. You guys do a great job of just having a relaxing conversation with people.
2- Matt, I completely remembered that episode right away. that’s probably one of my favorites, too.
hahaaa…. im not even a Trek fan but Matt’s entrance was epic!
According to IMDB, apparently Geordi was originally intended to be gay in the pilot script. Maybe that’s why he never got any action with the ladies?
Than again, IMDB, so take that with a grain of salt.
Which episode was the Beverly orgasm episode again?
@Bill Cosby – The episode was “Sub Rosa” and it was NOT good! The only way I’d watch it again would be with the MST3K treatment. I got the impression whoever came up with the story wanted to do something Bronte-esque and I hope the reanimated corpses of Charlotte, Anne and Emily came back from the grave just to kick their butt. Here’s the info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sub_Rosa_%28Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation%29
One of the best episodes, I laughed my ass off.
HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW TIMESCAPE?!?!?!
For the next time you have Levar on. You have something else to ask him about.
