I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

thanks Pete and Sara. This was a really great and meaningful episode.
So glad to hear you talk about SLC Pete! You need to come back soon. We have rice krispy squares.
It just keeps getting better!
Touched on all those things I hardly get to talk about anymore, and think all the time. Thank you for putting this on the digital record.
Here’s the God Loves Everyone song you guys

Wow, what an amazing episode! I truly thank Sara for being so open. This podast is the real deal.
Pete, I can’t get over how much I identify with everything you reference about your childhood and early adulthood, and how similarly we’ve grown, philosophically… and you’re damn right I owned the cassette single of “Place In This World”.
Wow. Thank you so much for this, Pete and Sara. What an incredible episode. It brought tears to my eyes, which no podcast has ever done! So amazing to hear truths about losing a loved one. Just incredible. Thanks so much for sharing all this!
Wow, this one made me tear up and think about my own stepmom’s death. Great episode.
Wonderful podcast, truly. Thank you both!
I totally agree on the relationship bit about both people putting each other on pedestals, or it’s toast.
And thumbsucker pride! Hell yes! You all WISH you had an endless & harmless cigarette that’s safe to fall asleep with. If you did, you’d hide it too!
Never had any overbite problems. The only slight pressure is on the roof of the mouth, not the teeth. I’m right thumb only, fits like a glove. Tiny callus where my bottom front teeth fit into the knuckle. Left thumb feels like a hobo’s weewee with a guitar pick glued on.
I can’t hear “Place in this World” without thinking of Mark Lowry’s parody “Face in this World” about his huge face.
When you guys talked about Universalism I remembered Carlton Pearson in Tulsa, who switched over to this belief, and started preaching that no one goes to hell.. and he lost most of his church. It saddens me to know that a lot of Christians would rather believe they’re going to Heaven, but everyone they don’t like is going to hell, than believe in God’s love for all.
I had some tears coming up on this one. Love this show so much.
Wow, this hit too close to home. What Sara said about her mom was laser accurate (that’s for you Pete) to my experience when mine passed 4 years ago. Her age, her prognosis (both cancer and time left), all of us coming home for shifts the last couple of days, the death rattle, hearing her last words… all the same for me.
Thank you Sara. And Pete, as always a great episode.
Holy shit I wish I was this open about myself. One of the best YMIWs definitely. I cried
