I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

I am currently a senior at the high school where they filmed Peggy Sue Got Married!
Everyone who goes here has their own Nicholas Cage impression because of that movie, all with varying degrees of nasally snorting.
OMG! (FYI – That no longer means Oh My God. It now means Oh Matt Grandis (But FYI still means For Your Information)).
Congrats on a well earned second podcast genius mention! (Or SPGM for short).
I live in Houston and your right about the zoning laws except you can’t have a strip club next to a school.
Well, sounds like I have a job to finish!
i don’t get why people would ever be cold and mouth off at shows if they are suddenly engaged by the person on stage. those people need to lighten up.
i once saw David Cross deal with a woman who wasn’t having his jokes / playful jabs at a show. he chewed her up like the cookie monster with a fresh bag of toll house cookies. it was amazing.
Admittedly, I’m not a star wars fan ( I know, *gasp*), but the bbq bit got me.
The Star Wars BBQ made me laugh so hard I cried. Well done, gents.
of course i had to listen to this in the middle of battling a cold. i nearly coughed myself to death from laughing so hard at that Star Wars BBQ bit. i almost died, but it was worth it. that bit was one of the funniest things i’ve heard in a while.
“Hello @Matt Grandis? Yeah hi, it’s the universe calling. Listen, whatever you want, kid. Seriously, you got it.”
You rock MG!!! Can’t wait to say, “I @ed him when!” (c;
My favourite bits of these podcasts are when the conversation turns to the nuts & bolts of stand-up. I find these fascinating.
Thats it im going to the Cantina
Matt, if you put out a set just sell it on iTunes for $1. You might only sell a couple hundred but I think you would be more likely to consider the material burned if some people pay for it.
Again, if you are going to Bing something please use google since they sponsor the Comedy Bang!Bang! podcast
Or we could just take a moment to appreciate the fact that Bing sponsored that other podcast we all just listened to and enjoyed. Y’know, the one on whose thread you just posted that rude comment?

Awesome podcast. I like the idea of vader trying to cut the meat with his light sabre and amusingly destroying the entire table/killing a few clones. The tortured emotional lives of the clones in Star Wars should be an internet shorts series.
I just wanted to say this was the best hostful ever. I hope The Emperor’s BBQ becomes a video, or that confused The Nic Cage Show will appear on The Nerdist channel. You’re remix of Caribbean Queen was atonishing as well.
@DrQ…lighten up its a joke. I find the running joke of the Google sponsorship on CBB funny. So sue me.
@DrW
My bad, sir! A thousand apologies. I was unaware of the joke and mistook your comment for rudeness.
I might still take you up on your offer to sue you, though, as I hear that doctors have a lot of money. You’ll be hearing from my attorney.
@Doc (Quemmento) help! Got two real trolls at the bottom of “Epic Meal Time”! I’ve taken ‘em on, but crap! Two of ‘em! (c:
This end of my move has seriously knocked me behind on my Nerdist activities, btw. Got some catching up to do!
What was the name of the 8-bit hardcore band that Jonah was talking about? Everyone was talking at once and I couldn’t hear the name of the band or album. Sounds awesome though!
@Doc Whisky: Doc Q’s last post to you is part of the reason he’s so totally awesome. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the dude is seriously concerned about civilized discourse. He’s also one of the best riff artists I’ve ever interacted with — the definition of “yes and”. So, you know, no reason to be terse or offended here, he’s definitely on the side of humor!
Speaking of humor, man o man how I wish I had a cool name to claim copyright over. Pink Hippo Bat totally agrees. Can’t you just hear the look in his eye? “Why did I have to end up with lame-o ‘Josh’?”
How do I know Pink Hippo Bat is a “him”, you ask? Go ahead, pick him up and check underneath. You’ll see.
I’m so glad I didn’t listen to this driving, I’d have crashed.
guys, this…podcast…was…HILARIOUS! laugh out loud.
star wars bbq, owl jolson, holy crap!
that Tig Notaro bit that Jonah was talking about was on This American Life in May. Part of a live show.

I had to listen to this again, IMMEDIATELY! Thanks guys!
Sometimes all I listen to are the hostful episodes.
If anyone was wondering about the 8-bit thrash/hardcore band. They’re called Stern Fucking Zeit. Ya can find them on Spotify and here’s their MySpace and SoundCloud.

Would you be opposed to someone starting “Talking Nerdist”? Would you let someone do “Talking Nerdist”? I think it might be an amusing test pilot. If you have more comedian friends that want/ you can convince to do podcasts, that could be funny. Maybe have your current roster rotate with possibly a special guest. I would at least give that a try. Maybe only once a week and about the hostfuls though, so your guests don’t feel like they will be “targeted” or anything.
I was having such a shitty day at work and then the Star Wars BBQ happened and made my day…thanks guys!
