I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick

Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

The music in the background during the intro while Chris is talking reminds me of background music in Totoro. Now I have to have a Miyazakifest in my house
So of course, I had to Google Mo’Nique and found this: “Why wasn’t Mo’Nique at the [2011] Oscars?” http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2011/02/why-wasnt-monique-at-the-oscars-/1#.T8AIjlKwXio AND that her show may not be on the air anymore. So…I found crap all that’s recent.
Joe Pesci has retired to play country music
Chris, who was laughing at you in the intro!?
Billy fucking Eichner. Discovered him through How Was Your Week? and have been a fan ever since. Billy on the Street is one of the funniest things ever produced.
It’s nice to hear this and his excitement at going to the Superbowl, knowing that his halftime show coverage was hilarious.
Ya know, it’s totally illegal to even try to sell your Oscar unless you sign a waiver that says the Academy has the right to buy it back first — for $1.
As for melting it down, Oscars are not pure gold but gold-plated brittanium: 93% tin, 5% antimony, and 2% copper. Probably not worth too much on the open market…
@Roger
@Roger … Oh man, 5% antimony. I can relate. I too missed most of antimony class — all those embarrassing diagrams!
Great ep, guys!
Those of us who were doing data entry while listening to this episode, thank you yet again for making our lab sound like it is full of crazy people.
Kyrie
