I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

Any chance that there could be a reviving of the Benson Interuption on the Nerdist Channel. I imagine for copyright reasons you can’t literally revive it, as comedy central probably owns that property. But it would be nice to see it happening…
Anyways just a thought, a question maybe, comment…. quemment?
The guy who pretends to be a Motown legend reminds me of my own lie. My actual profession is kind of embarrassing, so I tell people I ghost write porno movies. My favorite part of this is how insistent I am that I don’t do the sex scenes, just the ridiculous dialog that leads up to it. Plus as a made-up ghost writer it is entirely believable that I can’t tell you what I actually wrote, contractually.
Good times.
Excellent episode! I ordered Moshe’s book a few weeks ago, I can’t wait to get it tomorrow (according to Amazon). I love Moshe and the discussion that occurred over the last quarter or so was super powerful. Thanks guys.
See you at Meltdown tonight!
So excited for the channel Chris! Since the Walking Dead won’t be on until the fall, I will have something to watch!
After your show Saturday in Atlanta, you should come to the Stache Bash!
“I Claim This Chest In The Name of SPAIN!”
Will there be a science show to explain how to make my days longer so I can watch everything? I like Comic Book Club.
I’m sure this is a stupid question, but will the YouTube Channel shows be downloadable, like podcasts? Or will they be streaming-only via YouTube.com?
So happy to have a Hostful this week! Any chance you guys are planning on putting your Austin Podcast up soon??
This podcast is a Game-Alteration!
The reading at the end is absolutely wonderful. I’m definitely looking up this book.
The noises I made when I saw there was a Hostful posted, wow, you guys have so much control over my emotions.
I would also buy dozens of shirts if that artwork got made into one. I would buy SO MANY.
Whoa- Jonah was a Weenie King employee!
it’s true, in the bay I had to become black. the features:
nice ass
anointed a inside out oreo
allowed to make fun of black people/SAY NIGGA
I had the trifecta
HOLY RODENTS I LOVE the unanimous muscle memory quotation reaction to Moshe’s -Princess Bride- reference! Oh how wonderful! Next, I hope you’ll talk about the Marx Brothers and Slavoj Zizek, or maybe even Mr Funny Pants Derrida. You don’t do requests though, eh.
I love you guys. fucking just a great bunch of lads doing there shit in the world, gettin it done and having true enjoyment along the way. fuck as busy as they are (chris especially in his ways of promoting this Beast) i dont know how they could want to spend some potential freetime going through traffic and somewhat out of their way to meet up at meltdown for this. MAG-FUCKING-NIFICENT!! to say keep up the good work is too cliche …soo perhaps dont get worse at not sucking……or “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation”……..a little too far maybe but on par none the less.
I agree about the hostful art since day one should be made into t-shirts….secondly you need to have nerdist t-shorts to start with, they havent been available in awhile as far as memory serves me. please re-stock.you know you wanna……so just do it…..everyones trying it….c`mon it`ll make you Cool.
Enjoying said burrito.
Scott E.S.Q( exceptionally stoned qwement)
p.s t-shorts are in appropriate in public .NSFW NSFuckinAnywhere lol
woot! another Hostful+ from the, hopefully, windowed recording booth at E!… or G4 building.
missed you guys in this format. Awesome to know that there might be some future work with Alison “Slippy” and the nerdcast.
I’ll eventually give a damn about every other shows, probably focusing on “All-Stars Bowling” for the probable mess-haps coming from the randomness and competitiveness of different funny people and on Startalk, because I already do that for my listening slits.
This being a “channel”, is it going to be like TV where u have stuff coming weekly or will the content just fly off randomly when it’s done?
@Vincent S: Thanks man! The shows will be on a release schedule. I think regular intervals are important! We have a bunch of stuff in production right now and will have more throughout the year. Salutations!
Chris: Been playing a lot of Skyrim, have we?
Very much looking forward to the Atlanta show this weekend. Hoping there will be no filming of a fat-guy montage.
Podcast-admin question: Have you guys given up on badging the thumbnail graphic with the episode #? That was pretty handy, while it lasted, since my iDevices insist on losing the date and sorting the podcasts alphabetically.
Wow. The reading at the end is a very accurate description of addiction. Me thinks I am going to order a book.
As I listened to the description of all the shows that would be on the Nerdist channel I felt like you were intenionally aping “UHF” you even went to the trouble of getting Weird Al.
I think if you get the Neil’s to kneel in front of a poster or standy of General Zod from Superman 2 you could call the show “Neils before Zod”
I’m confused how this can be considered a hostful when you spend so much of it talking to a guest.
I wonder if the Moshe interview was technically an ad segment for his new book? I’m not complaining, but it seems like it was structured that way.
hi, its Mr. Title-Should-Have-Been-(Blank) here.
just wanted to let you know I think you got it right this time. see? it is possible.
and you know how people sometime fantasize about sex with cartoons? I have to have sex with Carl Huber’s burrito.
I wonder why this one wasn’t just tagged as an interview episode. I would have listened either way, but just at a different time. I went in thinking typical light hostful and got an earful of teenage addiction. I’ve heard Moshe before on another podcast, and the guy is really interesting. His story just wasn’t workday material.
“Hey, how’s it going?”
“We’re all going to hell through a painful and slow process of degradation.”
“Okay then, see ya at lunch!”
That didn’t actually happen, but I did have to save the interview portion until after I got home.
Is Web Soup done? Did i miss something?
@Jacki: most people who come on have things to promote. We received nothing for having Moshe on, so “ad” is just not appropriate terminology. He’s our friend, he’s funny, he wrote a book, and the book had a lot of interesting points. Why is it necessary to categorize it? Was the conversation any less compelling because it stemmed from his work?
And for all of the people making a point to alert us that it wasn’t a true hostful (it’s says MOSTFUL in the description, nerdlings) I will happily refund your zero dollars! There! You have it back. Spend it wisely! #WinkyEmoticon
@Mik: Yeah, The Web Soup! She is done! I no longer work at G4. Those folks are great over there though! I am honored to have had four great years there.
RIP Web Sooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuup!!!!
@Chris: I absolutely did find the Moshe conversation interesting and compelling. I’m not complaining about it, or about podcast ads in general.
I was just wagering a guess as to why the episode wasn’t titled with his name, as is customary when there is a guest on the Nerdist podcast. Is there a reason it was done this way?
Neil deGrasse Fn Tyson!!!
you just got a viewer.
Honestly, good job, sounds like an impressive lineup, I’m super excited.
I have an idea though… Mike and Tom eat snacks the show… so I can finally be a viewer
Oh my goodness, if you could even just do a title sequence for The Neils (the way Jonathan Coulton did for his fictitious sitcom Monkey Shines), that would be hilarious!
Can’t wait for the launch of the YouTube channel. If the Crash Course channel is anything to go by, it’s gonna be great.
@Chris Hardwick
Aww!!! Well I’ve followed you since T3 so I’ll watch whatevers next!
Love the Nerdist YouTube channel lineup! However, I feel there has been one glaring omission – a Nerdist show! I would love to see you guys when you do the hostful shows! Thanks for all you do! Keep it coming!
Yeah, sorry man, you can’t happily entertain nerds and not expect us to point out any seeming inconsistencies in the organizational system….it’s kinda what we do. I don’t think anyone was communicating out of hate. More out of compulsion.
The burrito looks like a (diseased) penis with a bit of cum dripping out
