I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

Waaa, amazing!
By the way, who would complain about three episodes for week?!
Come on!
Two of my comedy faves collide! Conan and the Nerdist guys together on one podcast! This is like Spider-Man joining the Justice League!
On a side note – Chris, my wife and I are looking forward to attending your taping in NY on Friday! Congrats on doing your first hour special – that’s a huge accomplishment! Best of luck (not that you’ll need it)!
An hour-and-a-half of Nerdist awesomeness. What a great interview!
hey will you guys ever have an official app for android/ios?
first off, I got tickets to the NYC show!
second, holy conan….
oh man, i am so excited to listen to this you don’t even know! everyone involved is now my favourite.
YES
I thought for sure that the “CHiPS” discussion would lead to a reference to “Knightboat! — The Crime-SOLVING Boat!” from “The Simpsons” … let’s get those starfish poachers!
inspired
I was raised watching Conan after pretending to be asleep. I cannot wait to see this…. good god.
there’s a shit-ton of podcasts out there which are comedians having open discussions and desconstructions on the overall subject of comedy…this one goes toe-to-toe with them all and kicks @ss. friggin OUTSTANDING interview. Conan is likeable, honest, humble, funny, open, sharing, and original. His description of the first snl sketch he ever wrote (anthropologist afraid of classroom skeleton) had me cackling out loud.
Thanks Nerdist for, yet another, wonderful episode.

CONAN ON NERDIST! FINALLY!
i’ve been wanting to see this happen ever since i listened to the Andy Richter episode sometime last year. i’ve been a huge of Conan’s since about 1999 or 2000. he’s one of the funniest guys on the planet!
I was raised Catholic as well, that uncanny ability to find a negative out of anything is a Catholic thing. I think it goes back to the confessions.
As usual, great show. Can’t wait until I can make it to a taping.
Thank you to Nerdist and to Conan O’Brien for this episode. As someone who has very similar problems to those Mr. O’Brien talked about having and not ever meeting anyone with similar problems, I really appreciate this discussion!! I’ve been physically sick for 2 years because of my own anxiety/depression, and this is just what I needed to know there is hope. Thank you so much!!
Conan & Nerdist?! It almost seems to good to be true*
Thanks boys!!
There’s a shit-ton of podcasts out there which are comedians having open discussions and deconstructions of the TV show C.H.i.Ps, but this one leaves them all far behind. Its microsocpic analysis into the minds and driving forces (pun indended) behind Jon and Poncharelli’s being was sublime, eternal, and enligthened.
Seriously thou….i think this may be my single favorite Nerdist podcast to date. Conan is absolutely brilliant. He was dropping some heavy and heady concepts left and right. He has a really clear and articulate philosophy on several aspects of human psychology. I listened too it twice and am reflecting on alot of what he had to say.
Thanks Chris!

Can anyone find the clip of the anthropologist who is scared of the skeleton Conan talks about.
<3 Conan… thanks Nerdist… <3 u too
The skeleton clip is on DailyMotion: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xl6qap_saturday-night-live-skeleton_fun
I remember watching this when it aired, which makes me feel old like when attractive women tell Conan they’ve been watching him since they were four (except without the silver lining).
Great interview! I think this was the first Nerdist interview where Jonah and Matt (and Chris) were hyper aware of their input. I can hear them striving to be funny in front of their hero.
Great job guys.
Another great episode. Love Nerdist and loved Conan in the episode.
Side note: the sound quality for everyone except Conan isn’t the greatest, but it wasn’t bad enough to hurt the episode.
Love the show guys, keep it up.
I can’t wait to listen to this in the morning on my commute to work. I love it already and haven’t even heard it. Squealed when i saw Conan. Awesome.
Maybe this is a bit to personal for a question, but does Conan has ADHD? I heard a lot of familiar stuff
Outstanding podcast! It will appear in the “Best Of 2012″ list, mark my words.
I think this is the best interview I’ve heard to date with Conan. I’ve seen and heard him do other interviews elsewhere, but there was a real connection between Conan and the Nerdist crew. He seemed genuinely enthused about the interview, and was very candid and honest in between the inspired hilarity. Indeed, this is one of the best podcasts to date, Nerdist or otherwise. Much, much enjoyment and contemplation was had, so job VERY well done, and I thank you!
Loved this episode. It wasn’t a big “who-can-make-the-best-joke” thing, it was a humble, interesting discussion about being creative. I’m not a comedian, but I like to consider myself creative and a lot of the advice given here crosses over to any slice of life.
Also, many Beatles references in this ep! Conan must be a big fan, nice
Okay, this podcast has been on repeat for me for over a week now. My dream guest on this ‘cast has been Conan for some time now and hearing this episode (in spite of being recorded in what other potential listeners would have cast off as ‘in poorer audio quality’) shows me I wasn’t alone. A great peek into today’s comedy scene as well as yesterday’s comic mentality.
Hymen Roth.
One of the best episodes of the Nerdist podcast. Ever. I’ve been following Conan’s career for years and this one single episode explains a lot of his thoughts behind why he does things the way he does. He is such an intelligent and articulate man. Love him even more after this. Thank you Chris/Jonah/Matt!
First episode of the Nerdist I’ve ever listened to because of Conan. Definintely not the last. Great show.
hey guys. Great podcast. Jonah, gotta disagree a bit. Mel Brooks made 3 funny movies: Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles and Space Balls. oh and parts of History if the World, pt. 1 are also good. But I hear ya. Enjoy your burrito.
Conan is so funny I laughed my thoraxx off!
This episode is great and inspiring to me at just the right time. I also finished reading “The Nerdist Way” and I relate on the anxiety, perfectionism, and panic in Chris’s book and this podcast. Love, love, love the work you all do, and thanks for talking about this stuff!
For the record, Da Vinci spent a lot of time drawing his own dick. Vitruvian Man – totally a nude portrait of himself.
Conan <3<3<3
Also, that guitar instrumental intro was amazing!! What was that?!
