I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

Sweeeet! Thanks Nerdist
Dave. Fucking. Attell.
I remember blocking the crack under my door and kneeling in front of the TV to watch Insomniac with the volume turned down when I was 11 years old. I didn’t know what the hell comedy was or who this bald weirdo was, but he made me laugh harder than anyone. Dave has a really special place in my heart.
You just made my Tuesday! I’ve had a comedy crush on Dave Attell for YEARS!
Chris et all,
Is there a way we could get the link to the MP3 to the podcasts back in the RSS feed? It’s not that I mind hitting the site, I’d just like to do it on my own time.
Awesome, Awesome, awesome. Dave is never not fun to listen to. (Double negative and ended with a preposition…yes!)
Oh, and not sure if it’s just me, but the file name of Dave’s episode downloaded as 140_Dana_Gould. The content is correct but the file name is a bit behind.
Yes! Showtime is the only movie channel(s) I do get.
Awesome interview. Got to a point where it was where Dave was just inquisitive about everything, and that always makes for good episodes, because you can tell the guest is really interested in everything. I got the feeling this interview could have gone on for 8 hours, which would have been awesome, so get him back on the show some time… hooray!
Great ep! Loved the extensive porn talk. LOL but my fave part was you guys breaking down the fanbase.Semeed pretty spot on.
Hurray!
Subjective fanbase note: Most of the Whedon fans and older Nerdfighters I’ve met listens to you guys. (Please don’t have a Twilight episode… unless it’s about the music or how the Northwest is really green.)
I feel like you need a Zane Lamprey podcast to bookend in the arc of drinking show hosts.
Also, people who cringe at their own, undeletable bad grammar.
Chris- FYI we like Serenity
Great podcast, as usual. PLEASE get Attell to come to Meltdown. I saw him at the Comedy Cellar in the front row on a pretty dead night and being riffed off was one of my best comedy memories. He would destroy in that back room.
Listening right now. Chris mentioned that he was looking for a contemporary western. Check out Justified on FX. It’s great and it stars Sherrif Seth Bullock (Timothy Olyphant).
Phase IV is a great film, the only feature directed by Saul Bass.
Atrox is right; Dave. Fucking. Attell.
Something happened to to dave though. I mean it’s like “dave isn’t here man”. I know you’re probably burnt out, but start fucking writing again Dave! Attell is not only the funniest comic out there, he is also a pretty good tv host. Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations is literally a copy of Insomniac, just toned down slightly…. (and also not nearly as funny). Bring back Insomniac!
Note to self, listen to full podcast before commenting.^
Late to the party, and maybe I’ve only noticed it because I listen to a lot of these back-to-back, but does Jonah have to mention that he grew up in Hawaii in every episode? Sometimes it fits the topic, and it does drive conversation in some situations, but there are times when it feels like he tries to shoe-horn it in.
