I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

I just got comedy blue balls right now while listening to this podcast. I’m at work and, like always, listening to the nerdist ‘casts, with one of my favorite funny people as the guest, and I’m snickering so much my coworkers just asked me to kindly STFU. Now I have to wait SIX HOURS before I can listen to the rest. It will be six of the longest hours in my liiiife!
Hilarious episode, especially Kumail’s first masterbation experience! Didn’t know Aisha also had a show and will definitely check it out!
Aisha looks Asian in that pic.
Just finished listening and man was this a great episode filled with stories of intrigue, deception and masterbation stories lol. I had to do the fake “oh i’m just coughing really loudly guys, not laughing!” at work with this one. And Emily, you are soo right about the whole stuffed animal thing for girls. I also listen to Aisha’s podcast Girl on Guy and would love to 1- find out what she is on and 2- take some of it. Wish I had her energy.
Great job again guys!
I just finished this episode. It was great guys. Do you prefer us to leave comments here or email you? I wasn’t not really familiar with Aisha Tyler’s work before now, but now I have a tiny bit of comedic crush on her. Wish you guys were more than weekly.
Emily, admittedly, I had some trepidation about you being the new co-host because of the whole couple thing, but during this episode I truly accepted you. You’re doing a great job.
Unrelated note: That kid had to be getting off to Natalie Portman, right?
Just finished the episode. I thought it was another fantastic episode.
I could not stop laughing at Aisha’s story about the kid.

Thanks so much for listening guys. Glad you guys liked it! Aisha was great, and you should all listen to her podcast. Its fantastic.
We are doing an episode on gaming addiction. We wanna talk about whether its a real addiction or not, and how it can affect gamers etc. So we would love to stories from you guys. Was there ever a time you felt addicted to a game? Did you ever have to take any steps to game less? Do you have/had friends who game/used-to-game too much? Would love to hear from you.
The letters/comments we got for the Gaming with Parents topic were fantastic, and we read a bunch of them in the podcast. We will release that one next Monday.
Joshua Bryan Hammack, either way is fine. If its something you would rather hear discussion about, comment here, if its something you wanna just tell us, send an email. We read both.
Thanks again everyone for rocking so hard!
Kumail
Another reason why I love the nerdist community, article authors/podcast hosts actually read the comments section and reply.
*loves indoor kids*
*decided to get GOW2 & 3 after listening*
*new ep out*

Aaaargh! Sorry Will Dearborn! Miscommunication between me and producer! So so so sorry! New spoiler alter is at: 38:40 to 39:05. For Gears of War 2. Emailing the producer to get the description updated now!
Kumail
Hi guys, new listener as of this show, LOVED IT. I listened to to the previous episode (dealing with racism in games) as well. I’m hooked, you have a new lifelong listener. I’ll try and catch your show when you’re here in Austin next month!
@Brad- thank you so much, I really appreciate it. And yes, it must have been the scene where Portman’s shirt soooooo artfully rips into a halter-ish top by that cat monster.
@Mandy W- STUFFED ANIMALS FOR LIFE!
Awesome show.. two of my favorite people..Kumail and Aisha it was way too short. I could have listened for 3 hours easy!
Hey could you put your email address up some where on all the pages related to the Indoor Kids? I’d love to send a comment about “addiction.”
Yes! Email us at [email protected]!
My best guess would be that kid was jerkin it to Ewan McGregors beard.
I love the Indoor Kids and I’m starting to love Aisha Tyler. She’s popped up no damn near every podcast I listen to. She’s nerdy, funny and sexy. I can’t wait for the new season of Archer.
Hilarious episode… I knew Aisha was gorgeous but holy crapnuts she’s hysterical too.
Also you got me itching to play Halo now!
Emily you continue to do awesome on the show..
Kumail… seeing stars on first nutbust… ha!!!!.. so now with all my “stargazing” does that make me an astronomer?
Just a quick recommendation here. It sounds like Aisha would love Warhammer 40k Space Marine, as it is a TPS with no real cover mechanic to speak of, you just run out and beat the shit out of everything. It’s not out quite yet, but you can get the demo now. Love the show, keep up the great work.
What a really great episode, I’m listening to it for the second time.
I think the only game I’ve ever been legitimately addicted to was Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind.
I remember sitting in class during my freshman year of college just filling the margins of my notebooks with characters I was going to make and places I was going to explore.
Unsurprisingly, I flunked that semester. Sure, I would have done shitty without the game, but it was a perfect storm of depression, addiction, ad spellcasting.
Haven’t listened to all the shows, but I have to ask. Do you guys ever deal with strategy games or is the show all shooter/RPG’s? I ask because, while there are some of those I’ve played and loved, I’m mostly big on Total War and the Civilizations series (now THERE’S an addiction.) Basically, I like pretending I’m a great general/king leading my troops on the battlefield.
Just listened to episode #10 and thought it was awesome. While listening, for some reason I remembered a website that I think you guys should really check out. Whether or not you can read some of it on air, I suppose you would have to look into that, but just reading some of the stories on it was really awesome. The site is:

Thanks for the awesome podcast and keep it up!
Was this the one where they were all discussing that one book they all loved so much? Which book was it? I think it was, “The [blank]“, and was about a zombie apocalypse, or something along those lines. Seems worth looking into.
Geoff – I believe it was The Passage by Justin Cronin. Or at least I hope it was because I just bought it!
FYI, dead person in the mattress? Totally true (at least according to Cracked). Prepared to be even more afraid of Vegas:

24:17 I’m pretty sure that astonished gasp was from Kumail, which makes it 10x funnier.
Great podcast!
I love the podcast, love how excited Aisha gets over (what sounds like) finally getting to talk to people who know games – and how to talk about them.
This is gonna sound like a back-handed compliment, but I’ll be honest, with all the praise for Halo and kind of, I dunno, newer-generation shooters, I thought you were kinda soft in terms of game experience, Kumail, but when you said you played “a lot of Quake III” my heart jumped a bit. I mean, it then kind of beat quickly when you said you saw reticules on people’s heads, but I understand – when I was into DDR, everything I’d see would be scrolling vertically for a minute or so after stepping off the machine.
I’m enjoying catching up on the episodes and it makes me wish I had the means or reason to do something similar, because sometimes it’s hard to listen to these podcasts without wanting to jump into the conversation.
Vampire prostitutes are NOT legal in Las Vegas.
Am I the only one who thinks that perhaps sitting elbow to elbow with Aisha Tyler in a dark room is reason enough to rub one out?
