I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick

Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

This was an absolutely amazing episode, guys! Definitely one of my favourites. Tom Wilson seems like such an interesting and awesome person. I’ll just join in with the chorus of “Do another episode with him, please?”
Tom Wilson is awesome – I never knew any of the other stuff he’s doing, but now I’m definitely gonna check out his art, stand up and podcast. You guys TOTALLY need to have him back and go as long as the man has breath! =D
Thanks Tom!
Best episode ever. What a great guy! I loved the Back to the Future stories. It is really cool that he realizes how much the movies and the characters mean to people and how for so many of us it was such a massive thing. Before I listened I was hoping Freaks and Geeks would be brought up. But this was so good it didn’t even matter. Seriously awesome podcast.
I have to get one of those FAQ cards…
Hey Nerdinistas!
Long time lurker – first time quementalist.
so here it is:
Which of you recoiled in nerd-apprehension when Tom Wilson did his biff impression in the middle of the interview: “hey mcfly!”?
Also how awesome is it that this gentle, thoughtful nerd played such a iconic bully/dolt…mmmm delicious irony….
please keep up the excellent work gents!

ps – love the themesong so much it’s my current ringtone – it’s the action sequence from the NES cart of my dreams
Great episode. I knew Tom was no Biff, but not that he was a tuba-playing nerd! This is up there with the Wil Wheaton episode in filling in a lot of gaps about somebody I _thought_ I knew something about.
Great episode, you should have tom back again soon. I really dug his performance in ” High Strung” with steve Oederkerk. I had to look up his art and now I have another favorite artist.
Keep it comming Big C.
This was fantastic! I am now a HUGE fan of Tom Wilson. I wish i had the money to purchase some of his artwork.
Just finished listening to this one, amazing episode.
Awesome podcast guys! I’ve listened to every one of your podcasts and this has to be one of the best. Tom Wilson is such and interesting and entertaining guest. You need to have him back on.
Tom Wilson has a pretty cool YouTube page, he puts up some of his songs and does vlogs with puppets. http://www.youtube.com/user/TomWilsonUSA
Alright, gonna go listen.
Hey guys just wanted to add a thought/revelation I had while listening to this episode (Tom was super amazing, I could have listened for another hour or so). I really like the “enjoy your burrito” idea, and I am really glad that you guys, Chris and Jonah, encouraged Matt to pursue his stand-up career. He seems so much more out spoken and sure of himself and I think it has a lot to do with the confidence of getting out there and making it happen for himself. I wonder has Matt been enjoying a “spicier burrito” (my revelation) because he has moved into another phase of his life?
LOVED this podcast! Can’t wait for Tom’s podcast to launch!!!
Listened to this one yesterday. Great episode. Tom is such a cool guy, I could have listened to him for another hour easily. Also, couple of very funny moments, I laughed few timws while listening to this on the beach, in front of many people who must have thought I’m crazy.
Seriously, this could have been five hours long and I would have still been mad when it was over. Tom is great. You guys were at the top of your game. I could listen to him tell stories about his standup career for days. I know he’s getting his own podcast, to which I will certainly subscribe, but please have him back on as a guest on Nerdist as well. That’s chemistry that’s too good to waste.
I thought “Oh cool, the guy from Back to the Future!” but he was so much more than that! I’m not even a stand-up geek and I loved his stories. So just to copy what others said — have him back! I’ll definitely give Big Pop Fun a listen.
I’m a little late to the party, but I really enjoyed this episode. I wasn’t aware of the extent of Tom’s nerditude, so it was great to hear about that.
I can’t wait for his podcast to get rolling. I’d love to hear about Freaks and Geeks. A couple of my favorite, most emotional episodes involved him.
Great episode goes. I know your niche seems to be trending more toward “comedy nerds” than general nerdy topics as of late, but you had Tom Wilson on the show without any mention of Freaks and Geeks? I know he’s a prolific actor and all, but I was a bit surprised not to hear it addressed. Love the show, keep up the good work.
PS: Matt, I’m eating an Anna’s taqueria burrito right now.
Tom Wilson was so entertainingly articulate in this show, it sounded as though he’d written his entire conversation in advance and rehearsed it for effect. A masterful, perceptive storyteller. This episode was one of the reasons why I listen to Nerdist: to learn about people I might not have thought about much, but should. Many thanks for this.
Amazing episode. I will be looking out for Tom’s podcast!
I really enjoyed listening to this episode with Tom Wilson. He really was entertaining and I am wishing that his podcast were already up and running so I could download and listen to it, also! Please let us know whenever Big Pop Fun is available to download on iTunes! Great job as always, guys, but this one was special! Thanks so much and… Enjoy your burrito!
YouTube brought me here after another user said that Eric Stoltz was a douchebag and that Tom said so. (laugh, yeah…) Well, I found out for myself that Tom didn’t actually say that word but this was awesome. I used to keep geeking out at the fact that he is Biff but after listening I see him as a stand-up comedian who happened to be in a big movie. Also these guys are hilarious! I wanna be a regular listener now. I am fascinated by stand-up comedy and was intrigued by all their personal stories.
Oh, I mean to say that it’s awesome he’s a comedian and began as such, and now I respect him as a comedian, and not just Biff.
