I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

Awesome, I hope Reggie lays down some loops.
Jonah: if you want you want to know who John Landis was star-struck over when shooting “Thriller”, just watch his appearance on Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show. He told the story there.
You’re welcome.
Oh, and great podcast, guys.
Unfortunately, we don’t get to see Chris punching the air during Reggie’s performance
rofl!!!! Meeera-Booey!!!!!! still listening…
Meera-Booey – Gotta love venues that aren’t familiar with the show.
3rd row, and I saw Matt just before he went to diner that night. Awesome show and awesome to relive it.
Awesome show! Reggie is a fucking genius, it amazes me he’s not a household name by now.
I hate to do this but you chose to appeal to nerds, so it’s on you.
Aquaman also has super strength and a experience in hand to hand combat. And not only can he control all marine life, he can also control animals that evolved from the ocean. That being said, wonder woman would pound him into a fine powder.
… I shouldn’t post this.
anncoultersadamsapple: no, you were right to post this. though, ultimately all life evolved from the ocean, so he SHOULD be able to control all of kingdom animalia.
That was fraking amazing! Reggie Watts still can blow my mind away with his great songs AND it’s great to know that he’s pretty nerdy. Bill Burr’s still feels like that abrasive uncle that pretty fucking cool when you get to know him better. What was in that cut (presuming that there is) before the talk about editing out the baby raping-scapades of Jonah (Jonah Rodbabyrapesgues anyone? the name Jonah race continuous!)?
I always feel bad when someone points out the time then you realise there’s only a few minutes left. Why won’t it continue forever? WHY?!?!?!?! Fun as always guys!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJfZTr8zMsc&feature=channel_video_title In case somebody wants to litsen to more Reggie Watts with a nice background of ponies.
@Vincent
There was nothing cut out. Chris was making a joke refering to Jonah’s prior joke edit.
Finally!!! Reggie Watts is a genus, i can’t wait to hear him on the PodCast, listening….NOW.
I have a suggestion for a nickname for Jonah Ray that I think is fantastic. What about J.R. Jokin’? Just a thought.
Listening now, it is great, though I have my volume at max and have to still lean in to hear it, but if I go and watch a youtube video the walls fucking shack from how loud they are… is there something specific I need to be finding to turn up or something?
Hey, great show! I was there, and actually, this show was responsible for me getting together with my girlfriend! Thanks, Nerdist!!!
Another stellar podcast, amazingly I just watched Burr’s “Let it go” on Netflix yesterday, laughed my fat ass off! I was wondering where Bill Burr got the title “Let it go”? Was he referring to his hair?
Ba-dump-bump!
Why don’t we just call Jonah “Rodriguez.”
Speaking as a resident of Muskegon, we do need a Superman.
Hmmm no love for Bill Burr yet on these comments. Bill Burr is my favorite comedian. I’m glad he is on the podcast. Keep it up!
Wouldn’t the correct pronunciation of Jonah Ray’s last name br Hodriguez? Is his family from Portugal or the Azores.
Great podcast!
Pertaining to the youtube parts of this podcast. It’s really sweet having it to watch comics for people that are stuck in Alaska or Hawaii(Or just places that will almost never have a touring comic come up to). It really makes us feel like we are apart of something that people in the lower 48 can just pay 15$ to casually see on the weekends. Totally understand why you don’t like it, but you have more fans cause of it. If I lived in the lower 48 I’d so rather pay 15 bucks to see it. I’d prolly have to pay up to and past $2000 for one show…counting hotel, plane, taxi fees…not counting food or getting lost fees. Being a college student (I got to a college in Alaska cause it’s amazingly cheap being an instate student!) I can’t afford that.
Amaaaazing podcast in general though :OD Keep up the good work.
Meera-Bouée! Meera-Bouée!
Without having heard the Kevin Pollack show I am going to guess Landis was star struck by Vincent Price.
Christ alive, that was an awesome podcast! And seriously, the song by Watts at the end was totally bad ass and now I wanna know more about the dude. Good stuff.
That. That might be the coolest podcast you’ve done to date. O—o Thank you so much for introducing me to Reggie Watts…and Bill Burr is just amazing.
Speaking as a music nerd and not a dick (much respect Jonah), “I Left My Wallet in El Sugundo” is A Tribe Called Quest song not Pharcyde.
Gad! I’m so mad at myself for not going to this podcast taping. Instead, I had to play in a ball hockey playoff game in the West Island (very close to where Jonah performed!) and see our team get embarassed!
By the way, the waitress you guys talked about, was it Cherry at the Comedy Works/Jimbo’s Bar? sems like the kind of things she tells us when we go over there. oh and we invented a shot with her called Raging Hard-On! God bless this town!
Jonah’s nickname should be, That Dick.
I had some strange aversion to Reggie Watts the first time I heard him – on CDR- but the second time, his genius totally struck me. Burr was right on in his praise…And Burr is great also.
Great show as always…cheers,
soniq GG
One of my favorite nerdist podcasts!
Love you guys!
fyi – “Left my Wallet in El Segundo” is a Tribe Called Quest song. Not Pharcyde!
I just want to say that the podcast has brought so many comedians into the forefront for me. I am a weird comedy fan, in that I don’t really get some comedians until they’re explained to me a bit. I was that way with Maron. I didn’t get him until I understood that I had to buy into the character that he is selling for it to be funny. Reggie was another. I never really got him, until I heard him on this podcast explaining the method to, what I thought of as, madness. Even if that method is madness, for the most part. Now, I am a big fan! Thank you for all you guys do for comedy, for both the fans that don’t get it, and the comedians that are gaining tons of fans because people listen your podcast. My wife got me tickets to the Nerdist Podcast Live in Portland, OR for my birthday, and I am sooo excited for the show!
Reggie is the greatest. We recorded with him at Metrosonic Studio in Brooklyn a few months ago and it was a blast. Check out our post about him – http://www.metrosonic.net/blog/?p=975
Thanks!
