I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

holy fucksticks, i am the most jealous thing right now!
hire me plzkthx.
Holy amazeballs, Batman! You guys get the most awesome guests.
You gotta be shittin me. This is great!
2 of my most favorite people ;0)
Holy crap, download faster iTunes!
I bugged chris on twitter about the rumor of a David Tennant podcast earlier this evening. Sir Stewart is just as good.
Can’t wait to listen oh my goodness!!! Excited. downloading on itunes right now
Internet squee!! I can’t wait to listen! Amazing.
Excellent! I know you guys have been wanting this interview since even before the Wil Wheaton interview. Congrats!
I can’t wait for tomorrow’s workout and listening.
When someone you reapect and admire says your funny, you should be able to make and wear a badge that says so. “Patrick Stewart thinks I’m funny. Suck it!”
I’m dying of embarrassment. In 2006, someone I knew sent me the video of Patrick singing the alphabet song. I thought it was so amazing that I had to show some friends so I made a YouTube account. At the time I had no idea anyone else would actually see it because YouTube wasn’t very big yet. Since then the video has gotten about 750,000 views. After listening to this episode and finding out that it was meant to be a private gift to Gene Roddenberry I feel their disapproving eyes on me so I took down the video. It seems like he’s not too upset about so many people seeing it but I’m so embarrassed I wouldn’t be able to look Patrick in the eye if I ever met him in person.
“Patrick Stewart thinks I’m funny.”
Those are words worthy of an epitaph. And at the end of the podcast did I hear him say, “Lets do this again.” As much as I enjoy the live podcasts, there’s nothing like having the guest in the booth with Big C, Mira Booey, and VaJonah. Plus, Matt and Patrick Stewart in the same room. That would be awesome. Please, make it so. (I’m so sorry. I just couldn’t stop myself from typing that.)
Not sure if this is right place to post for the guys to see but …
Spanish futbol club Gatafe is known for doing wacky stunts to drum up publicity.
Their recruitment video to start new season is about how their fans to become sperm donors, so world can have more Gatafe fans. And to help the POV character along, they give him a porn film entitled “Hot Zombies of Gatafe.”
You can see it here (along with more of an explanation)

Big C! This was an awesome episode. When Patrick said “you’re funny” I was excited for you. That is amazing. I hope you have him on again sometime! Phenomenal guest.
Whaaaat Patrick Stewart!!!!!!??!?!?! AWESOME!!!!!
Just saw the post and got exited
I think Sir Stewart should be the next Doctor Who!
Twas short but twas amazing.
kinda nice hearing that Chris has, from time to time, get praise on the podcast about his comedic prowess. grats on the thumbs up from Patrick Stewart.
Just saying, thanks for the constant uploads.
Well done, all!
I was sorry not to get the visual of falling asleep while the alien talked, but what a marvelous hour of stories.
Its SOOOOOO great to see that Jean Luc has all sorts of time on his hands to do podcasts and rub elbows with royalty. It totally explains why he left me in the rift and couldnt lift a finger to stop me from getting my butt kicked by Sorin. Yes im being sarcastic! Sigh…might as well get a bottle of romulan ale and head over to talk to my whale friends at seaworld.
James Tyberius Kirk.
PS: I beat the kobayashi maru…so there!!…tttthrrrppppptt!!!
3ToF.
Hi all! So when Patrick Stewart was talking about being a car dealing gorilla…and you were mentioning it too Chris…I immediately thought of the weird, bizzare-o phenomenon from Indiana that is Trunk Monkey. Have you had the…uh, pleasure of experiencing those videos? They’re pretty priceless. I’d link it here but my workplace doesn’t allow access to youtube. (sadface). You guys are great! Check it out and have a laugh, I’m sure you’ll like em.
No discussion about his role in Boorman’s Excalibur?
Magnoliafan: I know!!!! It was in my mental list but we only had 45 min. I also didn’t get to ask him about Hamlet & David Tennant. Or Dune. Next time! He was a lovely man and hopefully I’ll get to have him on again at some point.
@Mikael C: The proper nomenclature is “Sir Patrick”, not your clumsy Americanization “Sir Stewart”.
A bloody amazing podcast. One of my favorite people ever.
Another great episode! Always a pleasure to find that our heroes are sharp, funny, interesting real people. Thanks for bringing this out in your guests!
I love how Dan continually throws his dad under the bus. Hilarious! ^_^
Holy crap on a cracker. I saw this mentioned on twitter and thought you guys were joking. Opening up iTunes and finding out you weren’t has officially made my day.
I actually had the pleasure to see this panel live in Chicago. I was excited to see Patrick Stewart, and I nearly shit my brains out when I saw none other than Big C come up on stage to moderate the panel! That alone made my day, and got to chat with Chris for a bit after. Super nice dude. Only problem is, after meeting Chris, my wife now wants to leave me for him. Can’t blame her
I can’t help but picture Uriel Septim talking.
#neverwatchedstartrek
Fantastic episode. Short but sweet.
Also Chris, you are playing The Doctor in Die Hard 5.
Man the internet sure is fun.
Great episode. I don’t quite understand why, but when Sir Patrick Stewart told Chris he was funny I felt warm all over. Perhaps, in my future, I’ll be listening to some other podcast and Sir Patrick will compliment some other host. That will be great.
Smile!
Listened to this a couple days ago really good interview for only having 45 minutes. I can’t imagine what Matt would do if he came in to record an episode in studio. If he does have Wil sit in he’s great whenever he’s on.
This was beyond delightful, on every level. Sir Patrick is just a quintessential actor and lovely man, and it was fun to be introduced to his son! I must admit, my favorite moment was Sir Patrick’s “You’re funny” to Chris, and Chris’ reaction. Sean, I agree, that was a seriously warm fuzzy moment. Chris, you’re never going to let us forget that happened, are you?
Great interview. Kinda marred by the cackling into the microphone of the sycophant waiting to ask the first question. Way to yank out the 10-cent words for your overly nothing question.
Hey guys,
I enjoy the Nerdist podcasts, but with limited time and many other podcasts in my subscriptions I can’t really follow the new shows you have added. A unique feed just for the main podcast would be appreciated. Keep up the great comedy, you quickly have moved up to one of my favorites. Cheers.
Patrick Stewart!!!! Redankulous! I have to say that I was disappointed that Matt couldn’t be there so I could share in his excitement as well. None the less, a most stellar episode. I don’t think I will ever be deleting this one from my library.
Stephanos: there is a dedicated feed.

Enjoy!
Listening to the podcast caused a very severe case of curiosity for the Alphabet Song video and I found a version without the piano. I thought that I would share. : )

This was an awesome episode. I love Patrick Stewart. I loved it when he said you were funny. You could feel the love coming from it. Thank you so much for this. Love you Big C!!
i can’t believe i missed this when they were in town.
Great interview!
I only wish someone would have asked him what it was like to work with David Lynch on Dune. It is his most forgotten/one of his greatest roles.
I’d need a thesaurus to properly document all the words I’d use to express my love of this episode; but being short on time and a thesaurus, I’ll simply suffice to say that I LOVED it!
The Alphabet Song gift video was included as a bonus feature on the DVD for one of the seasons of Next Generation. I forget which but I think it was Season One.
That would be a great name for a knitting club!
