By Emily Gordon on July 15, 2011
Nerdist Theater at Meltdown, Chris Hardwick’s home away from home here in Los Angeles, has been officially open since April, we’ve become quite the destination. This week, we have shows every single night, so no matter what you’re into, I promise you we have something you want. Let’s dig in.
The Business, San Francisco’s long running weekly alt comedy showcase, heads south for a night. Four comedians- Sean Keane, Chris Garcia, Bucky Sinister, Alex Koll- each curate a portion of your evening. It’s a comedy mixture that regularly includes special guests ranging from standup comics to authors to sketch performers to musicians and dancers. Scheduled to appear: Knuckles and Tits, Tony Sam, and Kumail Nanjiani!
$10- get your tickets now!
Hosted by Howard Kremer, the master of having a Summah, this all day affair will feature food, fun, booze, music, water guns, a bounce castle, and comedy. Featuring Steve Agee, Eli Braden, Jonah Ray, Kumail Nanjiani, music from The Manx, and too many fun surprise guests to count.
FREE, but if you haven’t RSVPed already, the reservations are closed.
Spend your Sunday afternoons learning from the best at the Nerdist Writing Series! Join moderator Ben Blacker as he hosts esteemed panelists discussing topics like different types of writing, how they got started, what inspires them, the business side of writing, and more. Panelists will also answer your questions and give some helpful tips and tricks! This series is a must for any hopeful writer in LA, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit 826LA.
Scheduled to appear- David Slack (Lie to Me; Person of Interest), Norm Hiscock (Parks & Recreation), and Glen Mazzara (The Shield; The Walking Dead).

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani have both dropped in), and the magic that is live comedy.

When it comes to movies, there is bad-bad and good-fun-over-the-top bad. Join Eli Olsberg and guests Rory Scovel, Kumail Nanjiani, and TJ Miller as they celebrate the latter. Each comic brings in a movie of their choice and after watching a clip/trailer from all three, the audience votes as to which one they watch and rip to shreds. Also, if you have a bad movie you want to show off, bring it in for a chance to have it be our movie of choice that night!
