Does this mean the second podcast at Comic Con stays at Comic Con?

He did a set at the Laughing Skull Lounge on Wednesday at the open mic and tested some new jokes out. Seriously funny guy. Hey Hardwick when are you gonna do some stuff down south here?

Fuck yeah! Love Todd (Dodd?) Glass! Can’t wait for his podcast. I knew it was coming but I didn’t realize it was going to be a Nerdist cast. I’m a bit of a podcast junkie and I have been hoping Todd would get his own podcast since he stopped doing comedy and everything else.

I’m too excited about this I think…

Did Todd call Jonah Jonas several times? Or was he referring to someone else? I got confused.

Comedy talk is cool, just keep the non-comedy guests too, please, now and then.

When I looked at the picture for a whole second I thought you guys were with podcasting Mel Gibson.

I’m with you Jonah on being done with El Polo Loco. Last two times I had it it gave me the shits to where you are physically drained afterwards.

Every once in a while during this podcast I would forget you were talking to TG and not Bruce Willis.

Have you thought about inviting Louis CK to the podcast?

They just give out AIDS tests? Do they explain who the people were that took them? “This guy was accountant in Fresno. He was married with 3 kids. He would meet strange men in the bus station mensroom.”

Hey Chris, Jonah, and Matt!

I was thrilled to listen to the Todd Glass episode. I’ve been a fan of Mr. Glass for years, particularly his thoughts on the best way to present a space for comedy. Whenever he would talk about the subject back on Comedy and Everything Else, I would feel such a sense of “That makes so much SENSE!”

Chris: Although I’m not a comedian, I am certainly a stand-up comedy nerd. And I totally know what you mean about seeing a comedy club/space/stage, and thinking “Oooh, Todd Glass would HATE this!” I’ve heard enough of his rants to have had that embedded in me, too.

As a comedy fan in Portland, Oregon, I was super excited when Helium opened up. But the first few times I went, I was seated near the kitchen door and the noise of the talking, the music on the kitchen’s radio, and the loud crashing of dishes and silverware nearly drowned out the performers on stage. And each of those times, yes yes, I thought “This isn’t how a comedy club should be set up. Todd Glass would HAAAATTTTEEE this!”

Well, check it out: A few months go by, and my friends and I get tickets to see Todd perform at Helium. We’re seated somewhere in the middle of the room. Throughout the host’s time and opener, the din of noises coming from the kitchen permeated the show in a low-key-but-still-totally-present way.

Then Todd Glass came out.

Five minutes into his act, Todd breaks from his material, glances towards the pots-and-pans clanging, cups his hands over the mike and announces “ATTENTION, PEOPLE IN THE KITCHEN. WE CAN HEAR. EVERY. THING. YOU’RE. DOING.”

I can’t even tell you how awesome that moment was to witness!

I like to imagine that after the show, there was a little Todd Glass Smackdown(tm) perpetrated upon the management. Of course he would have done it in an absolutely kind and inoffensive way, but with enough passion and sincerity to make it land firm. That’s just who he is.

Whether or not the TGS(tm) actually happened, I’ll never know. But I can tell you this: I’ve been back to Helium many many times since, and haven’t heard so much as a “clang” coming from the direction of the kitchen door.

I absolutely love all of your interviews with comedians, and the insight on process that you explore. As someone who appreciates good comedy, it’s wonderful to hear how much work goes into making something so good seem like it’s so effortless.

Hey guys, love the podcast. I just listened to this podcast on my way on to a vacation but I have to say, while you guys are funny as hell and I enjoy the shows your timliness sucks. I enjoyed the Todd Glass episode, I would have liked to see him live. Lucky for me I live in Toronto… unlucky for me you aired this almost two weeks after his show. So pretty much sucks to be me.

I know you guys are super busy with your shows, your BBC shows, your open mics so you like to stockpile episodes. Cool, I understand BUT would it be possible to do a “Friends of Nerdist” or even a “Nerdist Industries related event” page where we could see upcoming shows? I would have gone to the Comedy Bar, I would have seen this show, but because you guys sat on it I didn’t know about it until weeks too late.

Any how keep up the good work guys and I hope next time you have some one on coming through Toronto I hear about it BEFORE they come through town.

I know this is usually a “so what” for most traveling artists but have distinct memories seeing you, Big Daddy Graham and Bob Nelson at the University of Delaware in 1983 or 1984. Since where I lived previously had no real standup comedy (Montana), seeing this show started my love of live standup comedy.
