Your Obligatory Star Wars Day Post, Because It’s Star Wars Day, You Know
By Perry Michael Simon on May 4, 2011
This was the big announcement, I guess, although we knew it was coming:
Okay, so, it’s Star Wars Day. And… um… what? If they’re going to declare a holiday, they should have some kind of celebration in mind. Special screenings worldwide, conventions, that sort of thing. Announcing the Blu-ray boxed set? Meh. (September 12th internationally, September 16th in North America, nine discs, over 40 hours of extras, the whole release is over at Engadget) I don’t do Blu-ray, so this wasn’t my idea of a big announcement. If you have a Blu-ray player or PS3, you might want to save up for it. (The list seems to be $135.99, but you’ll probably find it for under $100 through various sources)
How about we just remember our introduction to the saga? I’ll start: I saw it when it debuted, queuing up at a theater (I think it was the old Stanley Warner Theater) in Paramus, New Jersey for a long time to get in and see it on the big screen. Even before the opening, pretty much everyone knew that it was going to be special. I loved it, of course. My celebration for today? Nothing, to be honest; I’m not that obsessive. Also, I have work all day. I’ll just think good thoughts about the original three and leave it at that.
And you? What are you doing for Star Wars Day?
